Minji stared blankly into nothingness while walking away from Jung Kook's apartment. Tears cannot stop to roll down from her cheeks. She felt stepping in quicksand and the more she moves, the more she sinks.
Many questions entered her mind. She tried calling Jung Kook for answers but when his phone cannot be reached, she knew that she had reached the dead end. She is broken-hearted, angry at Jung Kook and to herself.
"Why? Jung Kook, why?" She asked herself this too many times but nothing made sense. She wanted to shout to the world, but who would listen if the only person whom she thought loved her left her?
Minji did nothing but to cry on her bed the whole weekend. She did not get out of her room. When she looked at her reflection, she can see the damage that Jung Kook has done to her.
Flashbacks of the weekends they spent together kept flooding in her head. His touches, kisses and the way he took care of her. She can still feel him. Did those things not matter to him? She remembered when he first carried her into his arms when she twisted her ankle. She remembered their first kiss on the kitchen countertop. She remembered the kimchi rice he made. She shared many firsts with her and know she realized that firsts are not meant to be lasts. She wanted to call in sick but that wouldn't do any good as well because she will just mope around the house all day.
She went to work the usual but her mind is elsewhere. She did not join her friends for lunch either. The works she edited needs to be edited. Jimin talked to her later that day.
"Is something bothering you?" Jimin was straightforward. His legs were crossed.
She nodded. "I'm sorry if this is...affecting my work...I'll accept whatever sanctions." She tried to control her tears but they fell from her eyes.
"I prefer talking to you first." Jimin continued. "Is the problem that you're having something that you can control?"
She shook his head. "Of course." Jimin laughed a little. "Then if you can't do something about it, you have to let it go."
That struck her. Jimin was right. And she knows that it was the first thing she should have done but it isn't that easy letting go of things that you wanted for so long and giving them up when you had a taste.
Minji went to the ladies' room after her coaching with Jimin. She called Tia Isabelle and would ask her if she can spend some time with her but Tia Isabelle mentioned that she will be out of the country for few weeks.
"Cris is supposed to be with me..." Tia Isabelle mentioned. "My children got into trouble at school and of course the society blames it on the mother."
Minji understood and asked her for a safe trip. Her godmother did mention that she can have the apartment when she left. She asked if she and Jung Kook had a fight and she lied that her apartment is nearer the office.
She and Jimin talked for a while before she went back to her workstation. Jung Kook, on the other hand, was dead worried about her. He knows that he is the cause of Minji being out of zone and he would like to approach her and comfort her but whenever he would brave himself to do so, the image of Hana's dead ex-boyfriend crossed his mind.
It was around 3 PM when he saw Chul on the rooftop alone smoking. He borrowed a lighter from him and Chul handed it to her. He puffed a few times.
"I don't know what's going on her. If you're asking me. Neither does Nam-il and Chiku." Chul finally said.
Jung Kook did not answer. He knows the reason why. He just continued puffing his cigarette stick. He realized that with Minji, he hasn't been smoking.
