Chapter 51: Returning

Minji kept on tapping her fingers into the glass cover of the wooden table, her bored eyes showed that she is growing impatient from waiting for Mr. Chen. She glanced at Jung Kook who was sitting across her, looking unbelievably dashing this morning wearing his black suit and brushed-up hair.

"Babe...I know I'm handsome but looking at me isn't gonna make Mr. Chen arrive any faster." He met her gaze and threw a flying kiss at her. Mr. Chen forwarded them a meeting invite earlier and they both know that this is regarding the business summit and Alejandro Collins.

Minji kept wondering if Jung Kook heard her last night when she cried on his chest. Her sobs were loud enough. Jung Kook did not ask anything so she assumed that he was asleep when she confessed. The beeping sound of the glass door both startled them and when they saw Mr. Chen walking towards them they stood to show their respect. Mr. Chen was wearing a grey suit and his thinning hair is more prominent. Wrinkles formed at the side of his eyes when he smiled at them.

"I read the article that you made for the business summit..." He started then signaled them to take their seats.

"It's engaging...thank you for representing MC Enterprises with utmost professionalism." He then turned to Minji. She pursed her lips and breathed heavily. Mr. Chen still cannot let go of what happened between her and Alejandro.

"But for the bigger news...Alejandro Collins signed the deal with us over the weekend. The CEO is finalizing some of the papers and he mentioned to thank both of you because you have been nothing but helpful during the summit." Jung Kook's fist clenched remembering how Minji looked like after he beat her up. Some of her scars are still healing.

"No matter how many investments you signed, I will not forgive how you treated my girl." He muttered to himself. His gazed turned to Minji who was just looking blankly while Mr. Chen explains things.

"...Jung Kook are you sure that you still want to continue with your resignation? A promotion isn't far for both of you. Considering everything." Mr. Chen asked him.

"I am sir. I have enough money to start my own publishing company..." He gulped looking at Minji. "And I would like to be honest, Minji and I are lovers. I don't want my judgment clouded because I am in love with her." He smiled at Minji whose face just became red.

"S--sir--" Minji stood and bowed to Mr. Chen. "I am sorry if you think that I am after Alejandro Collins but I really am not...t-things got out of hand and..." She met Jung Kook's eyes. "It's true, I am in love with Mr. Jeon Jung Kook."

Mr. Chen coughed and loosened his tie. He then dialed a number on the Avaya.

"Can you please bring three glasses of sodas and bottled water please..." He instructed. Tiny veins on his forehead started to appear. He placed the phone down and took a deep breath.

"Kids these days..." He huffed.

"Well...office romance isn't against company policy, so you both are safe...but Jung Kook's right. He will have his bias over you." Mr. Chen's breathing is still heavy. "Jung Kook, you've been with us for years and I've seen you grow and I cannot stop you if you wanted to have a company of your own. I believe in your capabilities and I trust that you will do good." He smiled at him then turned to Minji. "...Minji, you haven't lasted a year yet with us and as you know you have a contract...We decided to terminate the contract when we learned that Alejandro Collins is interested in you, but think about it, you are doing well here. MC Enterprises can help you grow professionally." The door opened when a member from facilities placed their sodas and water then exited the room.

"That's just my suggestion. I m--mean, you were so feisty when we first met. Do you really want to be the girl who quit her job to be with her lover? A career won't leave you. Ever." Minji softened at Mr. Chen's words. She loved working at MC Enterprises because of the people and the learning that she got from a short period of time and if she will be honest, she wanted to stay but she is sure that Jung Kook will disagree.
