Bridie

Waking up in dannons bed, I looked around. Nothing has changed its like nothing has been moved. Sitting up, I didn't know if I should go out there but I need to eat. if I don't eat, I'm going to lose energy and I'm already struggling with the mental side which makes me tired.
Standing up, I opened the door then slowly walked towards the stairs.
Trying to block the images of dinah laying on the floor and what happened after that, I closed my eyes then opened them again. Standing at the top, I looked at the foyer.
"Bridie" looking at maddox, he walked up the stairs. keeping my eyes on him, he walked straight up to me. "Are you okay?" "I need to eat but I.." "you are struggling to get down the stairs" I nodded "the images keep.." "look at me" looking straight at maddox he stepped back. "Grab the railing Bridie" reaching out to my right, I grabbed it. "I want you to take step by step but do not look away from me" "maddox" "just do it okay?" I nodded.
Looking at maddox, I took my first step down just continuing to follow him as he walked down back wards.
"How many times did you get thrown off the tube?" "Too many" "can you recall how many?" "The last time I think it was three" "it was and every time you would let out a small scream of excitement" I grinned "It was fun" "did you just let go of the tube so you could be thrown off?" I chuckled "no definitely not. the driver of the boat was a maniac" "i just like having a bit of fun in the water. You were the one that got on the tube" "maybe I shouldn't have" "but you said you had fun" "yes I did" "then we should do it again, my boat definitely needs a run. It's been neglected" I nodded "I'm sure it would enjoy a good run" "the last time you were at the river was the last time I took it out. I think it's fitting that you be there when I put it back in but for now let's get you some food" maddox grinned then looked behind him then back to me.
Seeing where I was, I smiled "thanks maddox" "you are more than welcome. If I need to do this every time, I will. im sure we could talk about lots of things it's been quite some time" "yes it has".
"Are you hungry?" "I could eat" "alright I will make something if there's any food" "I'm sure pauline did some shopping" "pauline?" "Dannons maid" I nodded.
"Is she here everyday?" "Yes when he is around" "okay".
Finding some ingredients in the fridge, I cooked up a meal for three. I'm not sure where dannon is but I'm sure he has business.

"Here maddox" "thank you".
Taking a seat at the table, maddox came to join me.
"How was it at angelics and callan's?" "Peaceful and calming" "did you do much?" "Not really, I did all my sessions, spent time at the pond and got two tattoos but other that we just stayed around the house" "you got two tattoos?" "Yes a couple of days ago" "to cover the scars?" I nodded as I had a mouthful of food.
"What did you get?" "One is a butterfly resting on a lily to cover the scar on my lower stomach and the other is two detailed arrows with flowers in the middle and the words 'keep going'" "you know you probably shouldn't have worried about the scar on your lower stomach when you have kids.." "I can't have kids maddox" maddox dropped his fork looking straight at me.
"What do you mean you can't have kids Bridie?, you always said you would like some" I shook my head then swallowed the lump that formed in my throat "after that certain day, I lost my chance. if there is a miracle, there can be a lot of complications" seeing the sadness on maddox's face, I put my head down "please don't maddox" "I can't help it Bridie. I'm sorry" I nodded "it definitely wasn't easy to hear from the doctor even after everything that kills me the most".
"What kills you the most?" Turning my head to look at dannon I shook my head "that I lost six years" dannon knew I was lying I just didn't want to hurt him.
"There's food in the oven, if you are hungry" "thanks".
"Are you planning to get any more?" "Not at this stage maybe one day but they will be of meaning" "do those two mean anything?" "Yes the..." "Hi sir, i am done with the cleaning for the day. do you need me to cook you anything?" "That's great pauline and no thank you. my partner already made us food" looking at pauline she was an older lady, grey running through her short brown hair, about five six in height.
"Hi I'm pauline" "hi Pauline, I'm Bridie" "nice to meet you" "you too please excuse me I'm eating" "of course. I will see you tomorrow sir".

"You were saying?" "The lilies covering the arrows is to stand for the beauty after the storm covering the time I was crossed" maddox nodded "the one on your stomach?" "The butterfly is just resting" I gave maddox a look and he knew straight away what I meant "suits you perfectly" "I think so too".
"It's good to see you down here Bridie" I nodded "maddox helped" "how?" "I kept my eyes on his as he spoke to me" dannon had a small smile on his face "that's good".
Finishing my meal, I took my dishes to the sink rinsing them then put them in the dishwasher.
Taking a deep breath, I walked back out.
"Bridie wait" I looked at maddox "is there something you need?" "No just wait a minute" maddox walked to the kitchen then back out again. "Come on" "where are we going?" "I know you want to go back up stairs" I nodded.
Walking into the foyer, I stopped and maddox stepped in front of me.
"Concentrate on my eyes" seeing maddox cross his eyes I shook my head letting a small laugh slip "uncross them you weirdo" continuing to look at maddox, he walked back wards "you are going to have to start paying me" "for?" "I believe I'm your tour guide" "is there a place in your eyes, I'm supposed to travel to?" "Space" I grinned "no brains back there maddox" he laughed "that is not what I meant".
"let me see you one two step" "Rock it, don't stop it"
"Everybody get on the floor" "Crank the party up" "we just did, welcome to the top floor". I put my head down grinning.
"Thanks tour guide" "you are more than welcome, I will see you soon okay" i nodded.
Going to walk away, I seen dannon just staring at me with a small grin on his face before turning his attention to maddox. Heading to the bedroom, I closed the door. Picking up my suitcase, I grabbed out all of my clothes folding them neatly besides the ones that need to be hung up then took them to the closet pile by pile. Putting them away, I hung up my clothes. Seeing a photo album sitting on the top shelves in the closet, I grabbed it down and opened it.
This is the album dannon was talking about.
Walking to the room, I sat down on the bed slowly flicking through the photos. A mix of every one. From me, to me and him and all the men. Continuing to look through the album, a photo of dinah, dannon and I stood out. It was at apollos wedding. Grabbing the photo out, I closed the album just looking at the photo. Dinah was wearing black pants with a lilac dress shirt. Her hair was up in a braid with a few curls that sat on the side of her face and her makeup looked spot on, just a little bit of mascara and red lipstick. She was never one to wear much make up only on occasions. Through her battle with cancer, she kept her head high. I know she couldn't speak after she was pushed down the stairs but I'm sure she kept her head high. That wonderful woman was definitely tough but always treated me like her own daughter. A woman like that should never have died early, she didn't deserve it.
"Bridie" looking up from the photo at dannon he moved closer "I'm just looking at photos" "which one caught your eye?" "the one of your mother and us two at apollos wedding" dannon had a small smile on his face "she loved you like her own daughter" "I know she did, like I loved her. she was always a sweet woman" "yes until you crossed her" "we are all that way".
