Fluff and angst
Reader Description: Reader who is nice but a little cheeky. I don't think I specified what house the reader is in but in my head they were hufflepuff
Cedric might be a little out of character cause it's been awhile sense I've read the books or watched the movies.

" Cedric! Wait up!" You called as you ran through the halls of Hogwarts.
The Triwizard champions had just been announced and you wanted to congratulate your best friend.
When you caught up with him you patted him on the back, "Congrats mate!"
He smiled at you and slung his arm over your shoulders, "Thanks Y/L/N it's really not a big deal though."
"Not a big deal? Mate this is a huge deal! You're gonna be in the triwizard tournament!" You say and elbow him. "But in all seriousness how are you feeling? I've read about past tournaments and it seems rough. I know you'll do great at it though!"
Before Cedric could respond Cho Chang walked by and gave a small smile and wave towards him. Your face fell as you saw the smitten look on your best friends face. You knew he liked her, he told you himself he liked her, but it still hurt. You had been in love with him sense your 1st year. He was your first friend and first love but he didn't return the feeling.
"Just ask her out already and end everyone's suffering." You groan out and look at him.
His face goes red as he smiles, "You think she'll say yes?"
"Of course she will! Even if she doesn't actually like you I doubt she'll give up a chance to date a triward champion." You didn't mean for your words to come out spiteful but you could see the hurt in Cedrics eyes.
"I don't want her to go out with me because I was chosen for a tournament." He said.
You knew it was a jerk move to suggest that and you felt bad but what was said was said. So you just shrugged and turned down the next hall to "go to class" but really to get away from Cedric before you say anything else rude.

You had been avoiding him for a couple days.  Another jerk move but you just didn't trust yourself not to say something rude to him about Cho. You did talk to him once in class and made sure to tell him to be safe in the first challenge.
You walked out into the courtyard to see a group of students huddled around something. Being curious you squeezed your way through only to regret it. Cedric and Cho were hugging. A Slytherin next to you leaned over, "Cedric just asked Cho to the Yule Ball."
You could feel the sting in your eyes as saw the two of them hugging. So you quickly turned around to leave. But your sudden movement caught Cedrics eye and he called to you.
He said a quick goodbye to Cho and jogged over to you. "Y/L/N! Did you see that? I asked her and she said yes! How awesome is that?"
You looked away from him so he couldn't see how much it was affecting you, "Yeah it's great Cedric. So great."
He placed a hand on your shoulder, "Are you alright? I thought you'd be more happy for me."
You moved away from his touch even though all you wanted to do was lean into it. "I'm fine. Congrats."
You started to walk off but he grabbed your shoulder again and stood in front of you. "Y/N you can tell me anything. What's wrong?"
Tears were falling down your face as you looked up at him, "I'm fine. Everything's fine, just leave me alone! Go snog your girlfriend!"
You ran off to your common room and to your room. Today was a nightmare. You knew it was going to happen eventually but you didn't think it'd be today! He had his first challenge this evening why now?
You sat in your bed and hugged a pillow. Tears streaming down your face as you tired to calm down. That's when there was a knock on the door.
"Y/L/N? Cedric wants to see you. Are you okay?" A housemate asked from the hallway.
"I'll be out in a minute!" You shout to them as you get up and try to make it look like you hadn't been crying.
Once you thought you looked fine you opened the door and walked to the common room lounge. "Cedric is waiting for you by the clock tower." Another housemate said and you thanked them.
Walking to the clock tower felt like slow motion. It really only took you 10 minutes but it felt like forever. A sense of dread filling your stomach as you approached the tower.
"Hey." You said as you saw Cedric standing by the entrance.
"Y/L/N about what happened." He started and you were afraid he'd bring it up again "I think I know what's wrong but I'm not sure. You sure you won't tell me?"
"Depends on what you think it is." You state and he chuckles a little making butterflies sworn in your stomach.
"Well I was thinking. You looked upset after hearing about me and Cho so I've come to the conclusion that you like her as well. I mean it makes sense she's amazing and your always sour when I talk about her." He said.
You frowned. "I don't like Cho." You said rather shortly.
Cedric cocked an eyebrow at you, "Then why were you so upset? I just want to know so I can change it and help you."
You sighed, "I'm not going to tell you alright? It doesn't matter anymore."
"Yes it does! It made you so upset you cried and I want to make sure that doesn't happen again."
"Cedric enough alright! It's stupid and it was just a silly dream. It was never going to happen. So let it go and focus on your first challenge."
He sighs and looks at you for a minute. "Will you at least be there to watch?"
Your able to muster a small smile, "Of course."
He smiled at you and you parted ways.
