Norman was a weird kid. He didn't fit in, and he didn't try to. It was better to stick to the sidelines and try not to be noticed. He tried to blend into the shadows.

He though no one but Neil and Alvin noticed him.

So, he was shocked when you walked over to him during gym class.

"Hey, you're name's Norman, right?" You asked.

He stared at you for a moment before slowly nodding his head yes. He couldn't believe you were here talking to him. You were popular, well liked, everything Norman wasn't. He couldn't believe you even knew his name.

"So?" You asked and he realized he had missed everything you had just said.

He straightened up, "Sorry, uh what?"

Instead of getting annoyed like he thought you smiled and repeated what you had asked, "In Mrs. Humphrys class we're doing student interviews. I was wondering if you'd be okay with me interviewing you after school?"

Norman thought about it for a second before nodding. You smiled and told him to meet at the gym after school before walking off back to your group of friends. He watched you go, wondering why out of all people you wanted to interview him.

Was it because he was weird? Did you want to make fun of him? Did you hear he could see ghost and want to know if it's true or not?

He was so lost in thought he didn't hear Neil tell him to watch out. A dodgeball smacked him in the back of the head knocking him out of his thoughts and onto the floor.

--------------------------

After school Norman did what you had said. He was waiting by the gym for you. Wondering if maybe it was a prank or a set up. He had already been waiting for 10 minutes, maybe you were just messing with him. But he wanted to believe that wasn't the case because you seemed like a nice person.

You were always helping people with their homework and whenever he saw you, there was a smile on your face. He liked looking at you, but not in some creepy stalker kind of way, he just thought you were cool, and handsome, and way out of his league.

"Norman! Hey, I'm so sorry for making you wait. I got caught up talking to one of my teachers." You said as you ran to his side.

He looked up at you and gave a small smile, "It's okay."

You smiled back at him, "Cool. So, my house or yours?"

"What?" He asked, head tilting to the side in confusion.

"For the interview." You said, "I mean unless you don't want to do it anymore which is fine, you don't have to."

"No! It's cool. I guess yours?" He answered quickly.

You smiled and led him out of the school towards your house.

--------------------------

"Alright so first up," You said as you start writing in your notebook, "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?"

"Hopefully not dead. I mean-" Norman answered as a joke but went to take it back because he wasn't sure how you'd take it.

Your laughter cut him off, "Nice." You wrote his answer down.

He stared at you with a small smile.

"Next up, any special talents?" You asked.

His smile dropped, "Well- I mean- I can, no, no special talents."

You raised an eyebrow at him, "Really? I'm sure there's something special about you."

He nodded. This felt like a setup to him, maybe you did just want to see if he could see ghost.

"Alright, we'll skip that question and come back to it." You said, "Favorite color?"

--------------------------

After half an hour or so of answering your questions, Norman had come to the conclusion that you weren't tricking him. You seemed so genuine, and patient, and nice. He felt comfortable around you now. He knew it probably wasn't what you were doing but he had to make sure.

"I know what my secret talent is," He said, catching you off guard.

You looked up at him with a smile, "Yeah? What is it?"

He took a breath in and stared at you for a second, this would be the deciding factor of if you were really this nice or not. "I can see ghosts."

You sat still for a second. The silence killing Norman slowly.

"Never mind- I was just joking-" He started to say but you cut him off.

"What do they look like?"

Norman stopped talking. He stared at you. "What?"

"Like are they cheesy white sheets with holes in em, do they look like normal people but like see through? What do they look like?"

Norman stare at you for a second longer, "They're kind of greenish, they resemble how they looked when they died."

"Oh, that's cool, so if you died by beheading or something your ghost would also have its head cut off?"

He nodded, "Yeah."

"Do animals have ghost too?" You asked.

"Some do." He answered.

You smiled as you wrote this all down, "Cool."

Norman couldn't help but smile back.

--------------------------

The interview was almost over but something had been on Normans mind.

"Can I ask you a question?" He asked.

You looked up at him, "Sure, I mean that's only fair."

"Why did you choose to interview me?"

You thought for a moment before you smiled at him, "Cause I think your cool."

He stared at you, "Cool? You think I'm cool?"

"Well yeah, not only can you see ghost which is super cool, you're also funny, and I kind of wish I could be like you." You answered, rubbing the back of your head out of embarrassment.

"Be like me? Why would you want to be like me? I'm weird."

"I like weird!" You said quickly then proceeded to explain with a red face, "I mean, weird is cool. Being normal is boring. I wish, I could be myself like you do, not care what people think and not try to fit in and please everyone around me. It'd be refreshing if I could just chill on the sidelines instead of always having a spotlight on me."

"What I mean- or what I'm trying to say is that I admire you, I think your cool. And maybe we can be friends?" You smiled at Norman.

Smiling back at you he nodded, "Yeah. I'd like that."

Sorry it's kind of short, I didn't know what to do for a plot, but I hope you liked it!
