Thank you @literallystfurn for the idea and request I'm a sucker for angst that ends in fluff
"Miles wait up!" You yelled as you chased after your boyfriend.
Usually he'd wait for you at the entrance to the school to walk you home but lately he's just been taking off. You didn't mind at first because you understand getting sick of waiting but it's been happening for weeks now and you don't even remember the last time he walked you home.
You caught up to him finally and grabbed his shoulder to stop him from walking.
"How are you so fast?" You wheezed out, you had to sprint to catch up with him.
"Oh hey Y/N." He said with a smile and took out his headphones.
"Hey to you too Sonic."
He laughed at the nickname and the two of you started to walk towards your street. Thankfully you lived in the same direction but you were still 2 streets down from him.
"So why are you in a rush to get home?" You asked after a while.
Miles stiffened but gave you a shrug, "Hungry." He lied.
"There's food at my place." You offered, "We haven't had a date in awhile. Maybe we can go to my place and watch a movie?"
Miles smiled at you but soon dropped it, "I-I can't. I'm sorry but I have something I need to do. Maybe tomorrow?"
"Yeah. Sure. Tomorrow works." You said.
You knew he had his own life and everything but sometimes you wished he spent more time with you. He didn't need to spend every second by your side but at least once a week would be nice. Right now it seemed like you only saw him face to face at school. And not even that sometimes because you had different classes.
You guys texted a bunch but it wasn't the same.
"My street's this way so I'll catch you later! Bye babe!" Miles said and ran off towards his house.
"Bye." You mumbled as you watched him go.
-----------------------
A couple weeks passed and it was the same thing over and over again. Miles would run straight home and if you caught him and asked him about movie night his response was always the same, "I'm so sorry I forgot, I promise it'll happen soon."
So eventually you started distancing yourself from him. You never broke up with him because that would break your heart. You still liked him but you needed to think about what was going on. You needed to get your thoughts straight and figure out what to do.
You were losing sleep thinking about him and how he was making you feel. Did he not want to be your boyfriend anymore? Was he just waiting for you to break up with him so he can play the victim? No that's not like him. But neither is ignoring you.
"Y/N!" The call of your name made you snap out of your thoughts and focus on the boy running towards you.
"Y/N I'm so sorry for blowing off movie night a couple days ago I was just really busy and by the time I got done it was already too late to show up. I'm really sorry. Is there any chance we could do movie night tonight?" Miles looked at you hopefully.
You rubbed the back of your neck nervously. You wanted movie night so badly, but were you really just going to forgive him like that? Weeks- months of neglect made up in seconds?
"Miles," You started and he could tell by the tone he wasn't going to like the next part, "We gotta talk. This time wait for me outside school alright?"
