"did you two have fun?"
"we didn't do anything."donghyuck raised his eyebrows disbelievingly, laughing at how flustered they both seemed.
"okay, what was your question before? have i ever been involved in criminal activity? no, but one day. it's inevitable. being a criminal is already a thrilling idea. just imagine, doing what you want until you get caught. and, if you're smart and doing it right, then by the time you get caught, you've nothing to lose."he twirled around in his spinning chair. clearly, this subject was something of interest to him.
"and then on top of that being rich. you can get away with anything when you're rich. like, i'll be honest, sometimes it's a fucking pain that no one gives a shit what you do, but ultimately - it's amazing. plus, i don't need to commit petty crimes like robbery unless i feel like."heloise seemed disinterested and her brain was in another place. in the end, she just decided to go along with jeno's plan, whatever that might've been.
"so that means you'd be willing to commit a crime with nothing in it for you?"
"well i mean-"
"yes or no?"donghyuck tapped his pen against the table - the clicking sound filling the empty space of noiselessness from where all three of them were in thought.
"it's not as simple as that, i still have stuff to lose-"
"but when won't you? should something this important wait until you're a loner with nothing left but money in life?"
"no but the swim team, school, soleil, i have a lot of things riding on being perfect."the girl was itching to just go back to the plan that jaemin had given them. clearly this negotiating thing wasn't going to work at all.
"but you're not perfect, are you? and it doesn't matter what you do you aren't ever going to be perfect. with all the high expectations that your parents have for you, i'd expect that you'd know that already."
donghyuck poked his cheek with his tongue at what the older boy was saying. he couldn't deny that jeno was right, but he didn't like being wrong all the same.
"i do-"
he was cut off from countering jeno's argument by a hand atop his knee. heloise's hand. she couldn't help but go back to jaemin's plan, still thinking it had better chances at working."hyuck, it's just a race, a running race. and i've seen you swim so i know you can do it. and if that doesn't work out then i'm sure we can arrange something else." she winked at him.
jeno had never seen heloise speaking that softly and generally being that kind, apart from the time when he almost died (an exaggeration). it infuriated him a little. he didn't know why.
"will she stop talking if i do it?"
