the car drive was silent but by the way her father's fingers tapped impatiently upon the steering wheel, she could tell she wasn't going to be let off the hook.

after the door to the house opened, she tried to make a break for upstairs, hoping she could avoid what was to come. but her dad was fast as he caught onto the material of her jumper and pulled her back.

he grabbed tightly onto her wrists, causing her to wince in pain.
"sohn youngbyul, how dare you cause us to be this worried? after the police investigation, you just disappeared. why did you run?"

"dad, let go of me please."
she tried to look for an escape but he only tightened his grip.
"dad, stop, it hurts."

"you're such an incompetent child. we gave you everything we possibly could, yet all you ever did was cause issues. you're lucky we still even consider you as part of this family. all you've done is cause us issues."

heloise felt the pain in her wrist growing as he wouldn't let go.
"dad, please..."
"no! we've let you fuck around for long enough. you dropped out of school, we didn't say anything. you came out to us and we didn't kick you out. i know what you're doing youngbyul. you're getting involved with criminals and you need to stop. and i, your mother and i need to be the ones to stop you."

"you're not supposed to kick me out when i have the confidence to tell you who i really am."
"if who you really are is evil, then we have every right to."
tears pricked at her eyes as she began to doubt herself. she wasn't evil, was she?

"get off of me!" she screamed at her father, who had pulled at her hair to stop her from running.

she hadn't meant to lash out and punch him. she hadn't meant for the bruise to appear on his face and for blood to pour from his ear. she hadn't meant for her mother to be alerted and to come in, just as if not more angry than her father was.

a loud slap sound resonated through the room and the girl crumpled to the ground, back against the wall. she tried her best to muffle her sobs with the inside of her elbow, choking a little.

"you're not going anywhere, sohn youngbyul."
