she didn't know where they had gone but she knew they had left the room. she glanced up just to check that she was right. she was.

using the wall to push herself up, she winced a little, rubbing corner of her eye where she had hit her head against the wall.

spite ran through her blood as venom as she clicked her tongue and carefully left the room. she was still unsure as to where they had gone.

it wouldn't even be smart to try the front door, nor the back. both would be firmly locked quite obviously.

quickly but still as careful, she walked up the stairs towards her brother's room.

seeing the posters now was a little more weird than before, especially posters of someone she had grown to become close with. but she ignored that feeling in her gut that stirred at looking at jeno's face, remembering what she wanted to do.

woohyuck was fast asleep. her footsteps had not woken him. she leant down to place a kiss on his forehead, knowing that if this worked well, this might be the last time he'd see him for a long time.

heloise picked up the small green digital clock on his table, being as careful as she could with the light.
she changed the alarm time to five minutes: in five minutes his alarm would go off.

she had five minutes.

now with a lot more haste than before, she peaked out of a crack between the door and the room, spotting that still no one was there.

she tiptoed along the corridor, to her own room now. she had thought about packing a bag or something, but there wasn't time.

she rummaged around in her bedside table to find the piece of paper, she couldn't use any paper, no. it had to be that one specifically.

when she found it, she cringed at the first few words, never reading more than the first line. love letters were silly anyway.

fishing deep inside her pocket, she brought out an object that she hadn't looked at in a while. her lighter.
flicking it on, she debated with herself one last time if she was ready to do it.

but she didn't have much time to doubt her plan: it was the only way she would be able to get out of the house.

she brought the flame up to the paper, and breathed gently as it caught alight.
she threw the paper onto the bed in front of her, not sure if she would regret it.

then, looking out of the window, she sized up how dangerous it would be for her to jump. just dangerous enough - she concluded.

one more exhale and she had already jumped, her brain not having time to think about anything. apart from that first line of the letter:

"to my love and my brightest eternal star, sohn youngbyul."

"
