jeno waited for a very long time for heloise to come back. and in that time he had found out that the thing he sent her to look for was in his room all a long but he had no way of telling her.
he assumed she was having fun regardless due to the fact that she hadn't come back at all.
finally, now though, someone entered his room. he expected it to heloise and got up quickly.
he was taken aback though, when he found it was someone else.
"oh hi dad." "jeno, it's been a while. did you miss me?"
he nodded, of course he had missed his father. it had been a few months, maybe three, since his father went on a business trip.
"i brought back the ice cream you wanted me to get. it's in the freezer." jeno smiled happily at the thought of his favourite ice cream being in the freezer. and how he would eat it and share it with heloise whilst watching movies. that would be fun.
"we have a lot to talk about, a lot of catching up to do. first off, since when did you have a girlfriend? what happened to jirin?"
the boy had heard this enough times to already be prepared for this, "she's not my girlfriend, she's just a friend. she's staying over for a bit because of some issues at home."
"are you sure son? i won't be mad. apparently you haven't spoken to jirin in a while and she's worried about you. have you been up to anything weird lately?" "no, no, i've just been busy so i've been a little out of touch with some of my friends."
his dad nodded before continuing, "but jirin isn't supposed to just be your friend. she's a really nice girl, you know, she's beautiful and smart and she's rich as well. i bet this 'friend' that you're helping right now is trying to lynch off of you. i don't think you should stay around her."
jeno was shocked, that his father would something like that. he really thought that his family never really cared about money or societal status like that. yet here his father was, comparing jirin to heloise, an idol to just a normal human being. his best friend to the person he loved.
"just don't forget that you promised. even if it was a long time ago, the two of you made a promise to marry each other. you can't let her down like that."
