heloise knew she meant well, but the multitude of ramblings was making her a little uncomfortable.

"wow, jeno baby, i'm so surprised you brought a girl home, this is the first time i'm sure. introduce her to me."

"she's uhm-"
"i'm sohn youngbyul, i can introduce myself, mrs. lee."
she said with a small smile as to not come across as rude. his mother laughed loudly before saying:

"of course you can dear, probably better than he can i expect."

jeno scratched the back of his neck awkwardly which elicited a small chuckle from heloise's lips. her laughter from across the dining table caused him to smile slightly.

"how old are you?" she asked.

heloise was hesitant to give a lot of information about herself. she wasn't sure. a putrid feeling in her gut told her that this could be dangerous. but jeno's mum seemed like a nice person, there was no need to be worried.

still, she only told mrs. lee her birthname - sohn youngbyul. just to be safe.

"my 20th birthday's in a month and a bit."

jeno registered the information. he only just realised that he had never known when her birthday was.

his mother was right, he wouldn't have been able to introduce her properly, he barely knew anything about her when it came down to it.

"how long have you and jeno known each other?"
"it's been something like a month, almost two. i think at least."
"time flies when you're having fun."

the two children looked at one another. it was immature and childish of them to think like that, and meeting each other's gazes in that matter just made it even more impossible not to laugh.

but they both held it.

"do you like him?"

heloise coughed abruptly on her food at the unprompted question which then lead to a serious of unfortunate events. jeno ended up letting out the laughter which was contained from just a few moments ago.

and he made the girl remember the laughter she had held back, making her simultaneously cackle and choke, water coming to her eyes at how hard she was trying not to just completely die.

jeno could only laugh harder. then stood up to get her water but unfortunately through his joyous giggling, he couldn't see heloise standing at the same time as him.

and they clashed into one another.

mrs. lee had been laughing a little in the beginning, but now she gave them a weird glance. wondering deeply what had gotten into the two of them and whether maybe jeno's sister had poisoned the pot she used to cook the food, she then added,

"the two of you must really like each other then. judging by your reaction."
