she wouldn't stop crying and it pained his heart so much.
he had never seen her cry to begin with, so seeing her like this was almost like looking at a whole new heloise.
he had to tell donghyuck to drive seeing as since heloise wouldn't move from his lap, or wouldn't move in general. she stayed with her face hidden against jeno's collar.
the car drive was completely silent, minus her gentle breaths as she tried to calm herself.

jeno looked over at his shoulder, where she had been crying. it was wet obviously, but it was also red. his eyebrows furrowed and a feeling in his gut arose.
he debated whether he should say anything. if it was serious, it could get worse if he didn't point it out to her.
carefully, he move his hands from around her waist to her face, gentle pulling her head away from his body.
she whined a little at jeno seeing her in that state. she didn't want him to think of her as weak. but that isn't what he saw.

she kept her right eye closed though, and he searched in the open one to see if her dark pupils were displaying any physical pain.
"heloise, open your other eye for me, please." she shook her head firmly but when he pleaded again, she couldn't refuse the look in his eyes.
slowly, she looked through her eyelashes. it was a struggle but she finally managed to open the other eye.
the light of the car hurt and burned and stung, causing tears to prickle at her eye, but she didn't close it.
he tried not to gasp at what he saw so as not to make her afraid.
"it's bleeding, your eye's bleeding."
