Celeste still went to school for the rest of this week. I went over to hers everyday so we could talk about what she was going to do, about their mom leaving them.

Financially she was stable since she worked and paid the bills. She was getting child benefit support too, so they were doing fine. But she wasn't her siblings legal guardian so she couldn't keep them with her.

This was all some serious stuff to deal with and I told her we had to get an adult involved because there wasn't a way any of this could be kept a secret.

She was a little hesitant but we finally went to my dad and told him about the situation. He said Celeste would have to go to court and ask permission for being her siblings legal guardian.

There was a lot of paper work to fill out and she didn't want to do it at first because she didn't want to risk losing them. I reassured her that the court would take in her situation and see that's she's completely capable of taking care of her siblings.

Celeste use to do everything before anyway, it's not like there mom was there at all for them.

The court proceedings are still going on now, but Celeste grew less tense when she felt confident she'd have custody over them.

As for their mom, we have no idea where she is. She hasn't come back since the day she walked out on them, and she's not answered any of Celeste's' calls. Despite not liking her mom much, she was obviously still worried about her.

It took me a while to convince her that her mom wasn't her problem anymore. That shes an adult who's capable of making her own decisions, and Celeste didn't need to take care of her too.

I was staying over at hers tonight. She had work late so I decided to watch over the kids. I thought I'd just stay over because I couldn't be bothered driving home.

" do you ever think she'll come back though?" She asked me. I was sat up on her bed and she was sat between my legs, her back resting against my front. My arms wrapped around her. I liked holding her like this because it made me feel as if I was protecting her, and after everything she's been through I felt as if she needed to feel protected, " in the future?"

"Maybe," I shrugged a little, " she might regret leaving you guys or she might not." She sighed quietly, " I know it hurts she's left you guys Celeste, and I know it's gonna sound harsh when I say this but things without her being here are gonna be so much better for you."

I know there mom was once a good person. That she loved and cared for them all at one time in her life, but she's changed now. She's not like that anymore.

Celeste sighed quietly and nodded a little, " I get that. But it just frustrates me that instead of sticking with us, she just decided to leave, you know?" She started to fiddle around with her fingers again, " she knew how bad it was for us when dad left. She knows how much of a big effect it has on someone if you leave them, and she still did it anyway."

I put my hands on top of hers stopping her from fiddling around with them, " I won't leave you," I rested my head on her shoulder and she turned her head a little to look at me, " I know I'm not much in comparison to your parents but I'll never leave you Celeste," she smiled and she squeezed my hands a little, " I don't give up easily. If things ever do get tough I won't runaway, I'm gonna stick with you regardless because you deserve that much. You deserve to be taken care of too," I kissed her cheek, " you're not alone anymore baby, I promise,"

She turned around facing me, still sitting in my lap. She put her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly.

" I love you," she said in my ear.
