This is the second of a double update.
Friday after school, Kristi and Megan walked down to the beach together. Except for Abbie, their kids were further down the beach with their friends. Some days she missed the old days, although she had Abbie. She thought of Patrick and wondered if he would be tied down with little girls. Maddie had joined them with her two. Jack was happy with his young family.
The conversation turned to graduation. Maddie said, "It will be a busy week. Thankfully, my mother is babysitting." She turned to Megan. "How long will the awards night be?"
Megan shrugged. "I've never been. There are a lot of scholarships and awards to be presented."
Kristi looked at Maddie. "Will you text me the minute the winner of Erica's scholarship is announced."
Maddie laughed. "It has to be Hannah. Right?"
"It had better be or I'll take back all the nice things I said about Tessa Simon."
Megan turned to Maddie. "Kristi is jealous of Tessa for stepping in, because Patrick is no longer wounded and relying only on her." Kristi needed to be needed.
"I heard a rumor, so it's true. Are they serious?" Maddie smiled.
Kristi exclaimed, "No! It's too soon."
Megan said, "I don't know. He introduced her to the kids. That shows commitment."
Kristi glared at Megan, and Maddie laughed.
"Let's hope they're smarter than me and Jack. It's no secret JP was not planned."
"Abbie wasn't either." Megan whispered.
"Don't jinx it. The man is forty-four."
Maddie said, "He looks damn good for forty-four. Says the woman with the husband only a few years younger. Oh, my gosh! I forgot to tell you. We went for coffee this morning. Alice had Eliza. Jen's water broke."
Kristi said, "Thank goodness. She was miserable."
Megan bit her lip. "She sent me a text. I didn't know if it was public knowledge." Count on Megan to keep exciting information to herself. "I'm excited to have time to spend with her little guy. I can't wait for school to end."
"The way Jen talked, he won't be little. Don't get any ideas about another one." Kristi wagged her finger at her friend.
"You know, we decided when Abbie was a baby, we'd leave it at three. I would have had the fourth for Peter, but he... Well, you know how he is with Abbie."
They nodded. Kristi said, "The man loves you."
"Kristi, Dan loves you just as much. Peter's bringing home pizza tonight and there will be enough for your two. You and Dan should have a date. I'll text you before I send them across the street." Megan winked.
Having some time alone with Dan was just what she needed.
Just before they left the beach, Megan had a text. "Oh! Look at this! Noah Richard Goodwin! He is big! Over nine pounds. Ouch!"
On her screen was a picture of Alex holding the newborn. He was gorgeous and smiling.
Let's celebrate the new baby 🔥🔥🔥🔥
