Tomorrow at school. East comes up to my locker. I slam my locker shut and give her a look that tells her to drop dead. "Look I just wanted...." I interrupt her. "Why did you do it huh? Was I not good enough for you? Is it because we haven't done it yet? You know what's the worst part? You could have chosen anyone, but you chose my best friend to hurt me with." I give her another look and turn to walk away.
I turn back to say "Don't talk to me again, because if you do there won't be any talking" I hold up my clenched fist. Then I turn around and walk away. I see Fenix leaning on a locker down the hall. They're clapping slowly and making no sound. I see North walk over to her sister who's standing there in shock. She turns her sister away and they walk down the hall in the other direction.
"Come on," Fenix says grabbing my shoulder and turning me away. "Why did she have to tell me she loves me?" I say walking down the hall with Fenix, tears in my eyes. "I don't know. I don't know." Fenix says as I lean my head on their shoulder and they put their arm around me. We continue down the hall. We turn the corner. Tanner sees use and starts walking towards us.
"Fags" he says and keeps walking. "Well at least we know how to keep a girl" I say, having enough of the homophobia and being treated like trash especially by him. He turns around with a clenched fist. A crowd starts to form around us. "Iris, let's go" Fenix says, trying to pull me away. "No" I say, moving my arm out of Fenix's grasp. I look at them and say "I'm done dealing with people's' bull crap. Aren't you?"
"Okay fine, but be careful" Fenix says, giving me a pointed look. "What did you just say?" Tanner asks anger written all over his face, his body all tense. "You heard me." I say standing my ground. "Watch your mouth bitch" Tanner says walking closer. "Or what? You'll punch me?" I say taking a step forward. People start pulling out their phones.
He takes a step forward and says "Yeah" and then throws a punch. I dodge it with ease as I move to the side and throw a punch of my own. It lands square on his jaw. A nice clean right hook. He's stunned for a minute and then tries another punch. I dodge it again and this time I kick him where it will hurt the most. After the kick lands on it's target he doubles over and lands on the ground.
I lean down and say "As I've told many people I'm stronger than I look." I lean up and walk towards Fenix who's holding my backpack, then we start walking through the path that the people standing around us made to get out of the circle of people. "Now THAT was fun" I say, grabbing my backpack from them. They turn back to look at the crowd.
"I hope you broke his jaw," Fenix says smiling. "Honestly, me too" I say smiling. "You know that you're probably going to get suspended right?" Fenix says. "Also we're going to be late to world history." "I know, but I don't care" I say smiling and continue walking to world history not giving a crap about what will happen, but knowing it was worth it.
