Chapter 39/ Unwanted Love

It's the day after prom night.

 East and North went home. Fenix and I went to their house to talk some more. After Fenix stopped punching their punching bag and crying I left. 

North told me that she questioned East for most of the night, but she won't tell her why she broke up with Fenix. Then when East was still delirious and tired North got it out of her. It was because she never stopped loving me. North said that she left the room, got into her car and drove to the park. Which is where I am with her now as she tells me what her sister said. 

"WHAT?" I yell standing up so fast from the bench that I get a headache. "That's what she said," North says looking at the ground. I think of the way that Fenix was last night. I get on my knees in front of North. I tip her chin up "Hey I promise that I would NEVER do that to you" I say looking her in the eye. "I know," She says, putting her forehead to mine. "I was going to say this last night, but then the whole thing with East and Fenix happened and....." I start. "I love you too," North says. 

"Wait what?" I ask. "You were about to say I love you right?" North asks. "Yes, but.." I start. "I know you Iris" she says. "You are amazing, you know that?" I ask smiling. "I know" she says with a smile of her own. We kiss for a few moments. When we back away our foreheads are still together and we breathe with each other for a long time. Then I sit next to her on the bench. 

"Hey do you want to go somewhere new?" I ask. "Sure," she says grabbing my hand. I drove her to the spot where Fenix told me that they had a crush on me all those many months ago. I take her hand and lead her to my favorite spot. "Oh wow" she says, taking in the woods. I sit in my normal spot on the moss. North is looking around in amazement when out of nowhere we see Fenix speed walking towards us. "Hey Fenix...how are you doing?" North asks as she sits on the rock Fenix usually sits on. 

"I'll deal with you later," Fenix says, not even glancing at North. "Um excuse me?" North asks. Fenxi keeps walking until they get to me. I stand up. "What's up?" I ask knowing something is wrong. "IT WAS YOU!" Fenix yells in my face shoving me. I back up and fall into the creek. I fall on the other land part since the creek isn't that wide with my feet soaked in the water. North jumps off of the rock so fast that next thing I know she is in between Fenix and me. "Hey slow down!" She says in a warning tone. 

"What are you talking about?" North asks, holding her arms out to protect me. "She's the reason why East broke up with me!" Fenix says in a menacing tone and tries to get to me again. North holds them back. I look up at Fenix and their eyes are bloodshot, they must have been crying. I see their knuckles when they try to claw at me they are really red which means they've been using the punching bag too. "Go before they do any real damage" North says to me. "Let them go North," I say. 

"What?" North says still holding back Fenix who's still trying to get to me. "Let them go" I say. "No, I won't let them hurt you," North says. "They won't, now let them go," I say getting close so I can move North's hands. Once North lets Fenix go they come after me. I duck their punch and move out of the way of their kick. Then when they come at me again I wrap them in a tight hug. "North a little help please" I say to North who's been standing there with a worried expression. They walk over and hug Fenix too. 

"Fenix stop trying to attack me" I say and after a couple more minutes they stop. Me and North let them go. For a minute they just stand there. Then they start yelling. "WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME!" Fenix yells. "I didn't do anything Fenix. It's not like I put a love potion on her" I say tensely. "Then answer me, did you even have the slightest idea of what she felt for you?" Fenix says voice menacingly low. "I knew that she wasn't herself" I say looking down at the ground. "SO YOU KNEW AND DIDN'T TELL ME" Fenix shouts. 

"I thought that it was best that you didn't know. You were so happy I didn't want to take that away." I say, trying to get closer to Fenix. They back away. "No, Iris if you could have saved me any of this then you should have. I don't know if I can forgive you for this" Fenix says with clenched fists. "We are done being friends" Fenix says and turns around. "But..." I say trying to stop them. "FRIENDS DON'T HURT EACH OTHER" Fenix screams, turning back around. Then they turn and go back to their car. North and I stand there not knowing what to do for a while. But North had a plan. Too bad all it did was make things worse.
