Not a Cinderella story but close

Chapter 4 / Unsupportive parents

 So here's my coming out story I came out to my favorite Aunt and she turned out to be homophobic. Said I was too much into the world. Also insulted my style while she was at it. We haven't spoken of it since. My parents now that's interesting. I was shaken by my aunt so I was thinking no I won't. Then my friend encouraged me to so I did. It was a bible scavenger hunt supposed to end with me having a sign that says I'm gay. 

My sleep schedule was off so I was sleeping instead of standing there. (When I did the scavenger hunt it was 5 am and I'd been up all night.) So that didn't happen. What actually happened was a couple of days later. At 5 am when my dad was up. I was filming a Tiktok saying I was worried that my parents would be homophobic. My dad overheard and asked if I wanted to talk now or later. See they didn't know that I was gay they thought I was bi or something else. 

So then I ACTUALLY had to come out a couple of days later. My dad had a long conversation with me saying it was a sin, he managed to bring up how BLM was wrong and how abortion was wrong. I don't know how but he did. Then my mom didn't talk to me about it a couple of months later. She was better than my dad, but still unsupportive. So here we are, I have a date with a girl on Friday and I need to do 1 of 2 things. Who am I kidding there's only one thing to do. LIE MY BUTT OFF. 

A couple of days later me and Fenix pulling into the Dairy Queen parking lot and trying to come up with the lie to tell my parents so they don't find out about the date. "Fenix I want a vanilla milkshake and I will just say I'm with you." I say. "Okay now let's just get our story straight" Fenix says after ordering us the food and pulling around the drive through. As they hand us the food "You and me are going to Don Pedros on Friday to study" I say after Fenix handed me the milkshake. "Is that what you said last time?" Fenix said before taking a bite of their chocolate ice cream in a cone. 

"Yes", I say. "Just because I'm hispanic doesn't mean I go there all the time", Fenix says after taking another bite and parking the car. "I know Fenix, but it's the new restaurant around here and my parents love that place they're less likely to question it." I say after taking a sip. "What happens if they got there and don't see you?" Fenix asks. "Then, I'll be screwed" I reply. "What's your excuse as to why we aren't studying at my place or yours?" Fenix says taking another bite. "Your parents are out of town and less distraction from my brothers" I say, taking another sip. "Okay sounds like a plan" Fenix says while a few drops of ice cream fall on their seat. 

"Dagnabit!" Fenix says grabbing a napkin. I laugh. "Oh yeah how about this" Fenix says, taking their finger, dipping it in their ice cream to put on my nose. "Hey that's not cool" I say laughing as I take my straw and dip it on their nose. "Okay okay we're even, no more spilling in my car we don't need to clean it out again" Fenix says wiping their nose with a napkin and handing me one. Ding! I get a text. It's from, East, it says "Can't wait for our date on Friday!" with a smiley face. "Aw look" I say , showing Fenix. I see a glimpse of something in Fenix's face, but then it's gone. 

What's going on with them, they've been acting strange lately. "Hey is everything alright", I ask Fenix. "Yeah i'm fine". Fenix says. I take a good look at Fenix. Their body is just as skinny as ever, but not in a bad way. They still have their muscles,they must be working out. Skill has their darker caramel skin, no acne and still the same 5'3. Same thin mouth and small nose. Still my best friend, but I think I see something in their eyes. Behind the normal greenish brown. "Why are you staring at me?" Fenix says opening the blinder that they have in front of them to see if they have something on their face. 

"No it's just you seem different" I say looking at them. Fenix closes the mirror on the blinder and then puts it up again. "Is that a good or bad thing", Fenix says looking at me. "I haven't decided yet", I say. Fenix is frantically thinking 'Oh crap does she know? She knows doesn't she!? What am I gonna do! She has a date on Friday! "Hey Fenix you in there?" I say a little worried, they seem distracted. 

"Yeah fine just thinking", Fenix says a little pale. "Well let's get out of here. I think the person that took our order is called their manager. We both look back to see a person staring at us and calling someone. "Okay yeah let's go" Fenix says backing up. Fenix goes around the drive through and pulls onto the road. "So where do you want to go?" Fenix says. "Anywhere" I say with a smile. Knowing where we always go when I say that.
