Not a Cinderella story but close

Chapter 15 / Suspension maybe?

East and North come up behind us and tap us on the shoulder before we make it to world history. "I'm.." East starts.  I hold up a hand. "Nope not right now and not ever. My offer was sincere as you just saw." I say clenching my fist while my eyes are like ice. "Fenix anything that you would like to add" I say, taking a step back. "Delete my number and Iris's number from your phones" Fenix says and takes a step back. 

We turn to go and North says " I just have one thing to say and then we'll leave you guys alone" "Fine you have exactly one minute" I say getting my phone out and starting a timer. Fenix gives me a look and I tap my phone. Their shoulders relax a little. "Thanks for giving Tanner what he deserved" North says and turns to leave but East stops her. "Can I say something?" she asks me and Fenix. "You have forty seconds left" I say looking at my phone. "I'm sorry I hurt you that wasn't my intention all I wanted was to see if you would notice that it wasn't me". East says looking at her shoes. 

The timer goes off and East and North turn to walk away. "Wait," I say, not sure I should stop them. East and North turn back around to face us. "What are you doing? They were leaving!" Fenix says, waving her arm at me. "Hold on just a second" I say, taking a step closer. "I guess I was too busy falling in love with you to notice. Also we aren't your test subjects that you can poke and prod at we're people." I say with tears in my eyes and anger in my voice. "I'm..." East starts. I hold up my hand again. "Now you can leave" I say. North grabs her sister's arm and they both turn around and start walking in the other direction. 

"Come on, let's go," Fenix says. "Okay" I say. We both turn around and walk down and turn into another hallway finally making it to world history. The people that were left over from the fight move along like nothing happened. None of the teachers showed because no one is a snitch and apparently we weren't loud enough. Me and Fenix enter the classroom and the class goes quiet. I have tears on my face that I wipe away. The whole class is staring at us, even the teacher. 

It's quiet for a minute until the teacher says "Welcome to class Ms. Johnson and Ms. Hardinge, glad you could join us, take your seats." I know, homophobic teachers too. Me and Fenix head to our desks in the back of the room while the whole class stares at us until we sit down. Then Mr. London says "Ok let's get back to class" and starts teaching like nothing happened. Me and Fenix pull out our notebooks and start taking notes, then the bell rings and we all get up and leave. 

I have, study hall and Fenix has Geometry. "Are you going to be ok?" Fenix says stopping in the hall. "Yeah I'll be fine" I say. We both split and head to our different classes. I don't make it though. Well I do, but once I sit down "Iris Hardinge to the principal's office" comes over the intercom. The class oohs like they always do when someone is called to the principal's office. "Oh shut up" I say while grabbing my backpack and heading to the hall. I walk to the principal's office. 

I open the door and the assistant principal points me to the actual office. I walk in and see Tanner and a girl (I'm assuming) with a phone out. The video shows me punching Tanner. The girl leaves and I take a seat. "So what caused this?" the principal says folding their hands on their desk. "He called me and my friend fags" I say calmly. "I did not, why would I do that?" Tanner says trying to act innocent, but I can tell he's nervous. "Do you have any witnesses?" The principal says. "My friend Fenix and a couple of people were in the hall," I say. "Okay I'll just call her in" the principal moves their hand to an old phone with receptionary buttons. 

"Them, and that won't be necessary" I say folding my own hands on my lap. "Alright well who threw the first punch?" The principal says, sounding flustered. "Tanner" I say at the same time that Tanner says "Her" pointing to me. "Okay well it's clear in this video that Tanner threw the first punch" the principal says holding up the phone, the video still playing. "I'm going to suspend you both for fighting. Iris ten days and Tanner five." the principal says looking at each of us. 

"How is that fair he called me and my friend a fag!? He also threw the first punch and lied about doing so!" I say putting up a finger for the first action and another for the second as I say them. "I'm the principal, I decide what punishment fits for what crime" the principal says looking at me the whole time. Tanner sitting next to me with a smirk on his face. "You know," I say, grabbing my stuff and standing up in the doorway then I say "I was wrong about what started the fight" with a smile on my face. 

"What's that?" the principal says with disinterest. "It wasn't that Tanner called me and my friend fags it's the fact that you won't punish the kids that commit hate crimes against the gay and trans students" I say with a smile and walk out of that office and the school like I own the place knowing that I added to my suspension, but I don't care. I walk to my car, get in and drive wherever I want to go.
