Fleeting Hope

Shortly after Salem was vanished into the portal, the Sins were saved by the former Commandments Drole and Gloxinia, who had denounced their allegiance to Zeldris and helped the Sins escape, but at the cost of their lives. But sadly their sacrifice only granted the Sins a few minutes to catch their breath, as Chandler was hot on their tail, but when the Sins exited the Boar Hat to face Chandler once again, they were shocked to see an awakened Meliodas, levitating in the air with Elizabeth in his arms and Chandler kneeling before him. The Sins tried their best to remind him of his time as their Captain, luckily for them he remembered them, but that only meant that he would spare them this one time and in that moment Meliodas disbanded the Seven Deadly Sins, and flew away with Elizabeth and Chandler to meet with Zeldris.

Having lost Salem and now Meliodas along with Elizabeth, the Sins felt defeated, hopeless. Diane was back to her regular human size, Escanor was fully awake and in his night time form, Merlin still wore her old armor, and Ban wore a second pair of clothing, seeing as his first pair was ruined by Chandler. Wearing a white dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbow, accessorized with a loose red tie, along with gray dress pants and red shoes.

"Damn it!" King shouted as he slammed his fist onto a wooden table in frustration. "What is the captain thinking?" The fairy king questioned as his facial expression then contorted to one of pain due to having hurt his hand after slamming it. Diane came over, and asked if he was okay, only for him to reassure her. "The captain isn't currently in his right mind. Because his emotions have been stolen by the Demon King in Purgatory." Merlin explained as everyone's attention turn to her. "We can't just leave the two of them like that." Diane said to the mage. "Come to think of it..." Hawk spoke catching everyone's attention. "I think he called me "Demon King" or something." Hawk stated as he thought back to his last encounter with Meliodas. 

"Did you think I hadn't noticed in all this time? I'm sure you've enjoyed secretly watching us suffer, Demon King!"

"It must have been your imagination." King implied. "No, he probably meant that my power is the same as the Demon King!" Hawk said overconfidently. "Sir Hawk, do you mind?" Merlin asked as she approached the pig. Crouching down, Merlin looked into Hawk's eyes only for her own to widen. "Intriguing. Sir Hawk, it appears you're connected to Purgatory." Merlin stated catching everyone off guard.

"Hey, Merlin. What do you mean, the master's connected to Purgatory?" Ban asked in confusion and slight annoyance. "Sir Hawk is a corridor, so to speak, linking this world to Purgatory." Merlin explained. "Me? To Purgatory?" Hawk replied, freaking out. "Apparently, the Demon King has been observing the captain through your eyes for a long time." Merlin stated.

"In that case, all we have to do is go to Purgatory through Hawk, and take the captain's emotions back from the Demon King, right?" Diane asked the mage. "Unfortunately, that's impossible." Merlin replied. "Why?" Diane questioned. "Aside from the captain, who's been cursed, I only know two other people who've been to Purgatory and returned." Merlin informed, as the room was filled with dread. "Two?" "But the means there was at least two, right?" King and Diane asked with a slight hint of hope. "One of them was my father, who also was the chief of the capital of the wizards. He walked through the door to Purgatory he'd discovered in his research, and after a mere minute inside, he returned... completely decrepit." The Sins were shocked to hear this. 

"Until his final moments, he continued to mutter details about purgatory, as if delirious. A land where the toxic air is both blazing hot and freezing cold, and destroys the bodies of the living. Time and space are warped, and one minute turned into a year. It eats away at and invades the souls of the dead. Having lost all sensation, he only had his sixth sense to rely on. It's a chaotic land strewn with the crushed souls of the dead, where monsters prowl in search of prey. In a hell like that, how are you going to find the captain's emotions, which could be anywhere? Above all, don't forget that it was the Demon King who seized them. He's far too powerful. Give up." Merlin stated as the Sins once again began to lose hope.
