Chapter 30: Shootout

The battle between the Cabal and the Vex continued. And at the same time, Ravi and Leah just found hard to believe the intense conflict that was taking place on that that hell of a battlefield.

"So, that is the entrance to the Black Garden?" Leah asked her ghost, referring to the giant ring-shaped construction at the very back.

"Unfortunately, it is" Cybel bluntly replied.

"Which means that we have to cross this battlefield somehow" Ravi added with a serious expression. "I knew it couldn't be that easy"

As soon as Ravi said this, something... or rather someone... literally fell from up high and landed right behind the guardian duo, causing a small shockwave and breaking the ground in the process. Both Ravi and Leah tensed up at that moment and turned around immediately, only to meet a huge Cabal soldier, even bigger than the others, carrying... a freaking mini-gun.

"What do we have here?" the big Cabal asked sarcastically. "I wasn't expecting enemies apart from the Vex, but I'm always happy to crush any worm that gets in our way" as soon as the space rhino claimed that, it aimed to punch the guardian duo directly.

Both trainees and their ghost immediately jumped out of there as fast as they could. However, they were now at the very eye of the storm... surrounded by Vex and Cabal ready to attack. "LEAH! MOVE!" the blue-haired boy yelled as both of them got scattered and took cover behind the nearest object they could find. "What the hell was that thing?!" Ravi asked desperately.

"A Cabal Colossus!" Wire replied. "Whatever you do, you gotta stay out of its sight!"

Cabal and Vex began shooting at them and between themselves. The Colossus from before also started destroying everything around using its mini-gun. Laser rays and bullets were flying all around and creating an even greater mess of that place.

"Damn it! This was exactly what we wanted to avoid! Now what?!"

Ravi didn't answer, he was too focused watching the shootout and thinking of a solution. 'Right now, we are safe... not only because of the cover, but also because we are not the only objective of the Cabal' The blue-haired boy turned to stare at the Vex, which were slowly being wiped out.

"Ravi?"

'The Vex can be a good distraction, but they won't last much longer' After thinking this, his gaze turned to the huge cabal tank.

"Hey! Ravi!"

'Also, if we don't deal with that freaking tank and that other guy with the stupid mini-gun, we are doomed!'

"RAVI!" Wire yelled for the third and last time as the warlock boy finally snapped out of his own thoughts.

"I know I know!" he bluntly replied. "Just, give me some time to think!"

Meanwhile Leah and Cybel were also protecting themselves behind their own cover. "This is insane!" the guardian girl yelled while covering her head. "How are we supposed to fight this?!"

"I have no idea! Just stay in cover!" Cybel replied with despair.

And so, as the guardian duo kept on hiding in order to not be killed, the colossus began advancing slowly while also clearing the whole place from the Vex. "HAHAHAHAHAHA... DIE YOU PIECES OF JUNK!" the big Cabal said out loud with a sadistic voice. His mini-gun was potent enough to perforate the chassis of every single Vex. However, his party was then interrupted by a blast of fire which hit his head directly. "ARGH!" the colossus groaned in pain while taking off his helmet. Then, he turned to one side and found Ravi with his hand extended and making the shape of a gun.
