"So, Mars..." Wire began as Ravi and Leah paid close attention. "Where to start?"

"How about... the discovery?" Cybel proposed, after which Wire nodded in agreement.

The guardian duo and their ghosts were on their way to the so called... red planet, and as usual they were looking for some info and background about the history and current state of the Solar System's 4th planet.

Mars is... the place were all started... the place where humanity made its first contact with the almighty Traveller. People ventured themselves there in order to explore and found a new beginning, cities were built and spread all around the planet's surface, and what's more, 1 of the greatest scientific corporations also found its foundation right there: Clovis Bray.

Together with the Ishtar Collective, Clovis Bray took human development to levels beyond the imaginable at that time.

Hundreds of scientific facilities were built all over Mars, each with their own reasons of study and evolution, but all serving at the same time to one main and ambitious purpose: to built humanity's greatest weapon and defense system. The result of such ambition... was the AI and legendary warmind itself: Rasputin. However, since the Vanguard never truly believed that leaving humanity's safety on the hands of an AI was the best idea, it was shut down almost immediately after its creation.

As time passed, and when the Collapse finally reached Mars, the red planet too fell under the invasion of races outside of the Solar System.

The Vex can be found mostly in the central regions filled with ruins of countless human cities, such as the Meridian Bay; the Hive lie beneath the ice grounds of the red planet's southern polar caps, where Clovis Bray's main facility is located as well; even a few Fallen scavengers are scattered in less proportion; and also... the Cabal: big and corpulent aliens of humanoid form known for their ferocity in battle and tenacity when fighting for anything they truly want.

Unlike the other invaders from Earth, the Moon or Venus, the Cabal's expansion had actually reached almost every single corner of the so called red planet.

As Ravi and Leah were listening to all that Wire and Cybel were explaining, many questions took form inside their heads. "Wait a minute!" Leah said, interrupting both ghosts. "Are you saying that... there is yet a new enemy waiting for us on Mars?"

"That's right..." Cybel bluntly answered. "From all the enemies you've encountered so far, the Cabal will probably be the strongest ones. At least in terms of brute force"

"We shouldn't focus too much on that" Wire added. "Don't forget our goal is to enter the Black Garden. So, we should just avoid conflict with those space rhinos if possible"

"Space... rhinos?" Leah muttered to herself while imagining some creepy monsters in her mind.

Ravi on the other hand, startled and got excited again at the mention of Clovis Bray's foundation. "So, Clovis Bray was founded there, huh? Hehehe..." he muttered while rubbing his chin with a smirk. "Mmmh... Maybe we can check out some other places before..."
