A week later, we were at the station early that even Owen wasn't here. I was busy joking around with my brother on the fire truck, when we heard a car pull up and music playing.

"Hey, what's up, Cap?" Paul greeted when Owen walked in.

"Sup baby". He greeted back.

"Little spring in your step there, Cap. Did you get laid or something?" T.k joked.

"Eh, I'm just feeling a little more at home in Austin. Found an organic food market. I found a vitamin shop that sells my fish oil supplements I like, a CorePower Yoga studio within walking distance. I mean, this place is like new York with just a lot less trash in the street". Owen chirped and I glanced at Marjan with a smile.

"Here you go,Cap". Mateo said, handing a cup of espresso to him.

"Hey, you cut yourself, Cap?" Paul asked, motioning to his head.

"Oh, thats the other thing. I found a dermatologist that follows the same hair protocols as my guy in new York city". Owen answered.

"You have hair protocols?" I asked with a chuckle.

"I'm pulling in for a transfer". Judd said raising his hand and Marjan smirked over at me.

"Hey, go ahead and laugh, but I'm convinced its the only reason I haven't lost my hair". Owen defended.

"Well". Judd mumbled and I elbowed him, trying not to laugh.

"Hey, I'm not trying to hate on anyone for taking advantage of science to level up". Paul said giving Owen a fist bump.

Marjan glanced at me but she looked uncomfortable and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"So every six weeks, I get my scalp injected with a drug called finasteride. It promotes hair growth. I think its that combination of treatment and trauma that really makes your hair grow. I also use finasteride drops twice a day and then once a night orally. Also, its been great for my prostate health". Owen explained.

"There's also a thing called Shampoo and conditioner". I smiled making the crew snicker.

"I think you'd look good bald. I like that shaved head look. Bruce Willis, The Rock..... Its super masculine". Michelle smiled.

"Look, all I'm saying: at a certain point, a guy needs to have a signature look, something to define him. I'm the guy with the hair. I mean, every time I get one of those caricatures from a guy on the street, my hair is, like, enormous". Owen said.

"Every time? How often do you sit for one of those?" Michelle joked making us laugh.

"I think you have an irrational fear of losing your hair,Cap". I shrugged and he looked at me.

Just then the bell went off.

"Who say's its irrational?" He mumbled before taking a sip of his coffee.

The team and I walked through the bottom floor of the offices before taking in the view.

"Hey, this don't make no sense because that glass should be tempered for hurricanes". Judd called as we looked up at the shattered window.

"Oh, I've seen this back in the city. When people are committed, they'll find a way". Owen said.

"Judging by that forehead, she was very committed". T.k mumbled as we looked down at a women with blood all over her face.

"Dude, the chick thought she was in birdbox". I joked and Owen looked at me confused.

"Birdbox?" He asked.

"Netflix?" I commented and he still looked confused.

"Sandra Bullock?" T.k added and he shook his head.

We walked up to the main office the lady fell from and I was shocked. People started going crazy.

"What are they presenting?" Michelle asked.

"BPs barely detectable. Arrhythmias every where". Clearwater answered.

"Lock jaw, muscle tremors. I've never seen anything like this,Cap".

"We need to get these people transported". Michelle called.

"We're not going anywhere until we know what we're dealing with. Let's close this building down". Owen ordered.

"Help! Holly, she's turning". Someone yelled out.

"Ma'am! Ma'am,no!" Paul yelled running towards the lady with her nails in her arm.

"Let me see. Light aversions, convulsions, paresthsia, mania, I think this might be a severe case of erethism". Michelle said.

"Bird box". I shouted and Marjan snorted.

"Mad hatters disease". Michelle corrected and I pouted.

"19th- century hatmakers really used to go insane because they handled small doses of mercury. Handle a large dose, and..." Michelle trailed off.

"People go straight bird box". Marjan finished.

"Ha, I knew it". I called.

"So why are some people down and not others?" T.k asked.

"Thats the million dollar question isn't it?" Michelle answered.

"Listen, you need to contact North Austin Regional, Mercy and University medical and tell them that they need to get their trauma teams ready". Michelle told T.k and he nodded.

"If you are feeling sick, speak up! No one leaves until special response clears you to go". Owen called out and I looked at Paul who was looking through the stuff on the table.

"Who's quinoa is this?" He asked and I looked at Marjan.

"He's doing the thing". I smiled.

"Hey, the guy that landed on the coffee cart, he's gonna survive, so thank god for overpriced pastries". Judd said, coming to stand next to me.

"Is he doing a thing?" He asked.

"Uh-huh". I nodded.

"Who's juice is this?" Paul asked.

"I'm on a cleanse, why?" A patient asked.

"What did you have for lunch?" He asked another guy.

"Skipped it... Big breakfast". He answered.

"Wait for it". I chorused.

"I know who did this". Paul announced and I drummed on the table.

"And there it is". I smiled.

I followed Carlos and Paul towards the table and he picked up a sandwich before opening it.

"Mercury". I mumbled.

"I'm looking for, uh, ladder 126". The delivery guy called as I stood next to Marjan.

"That'd be us, boss". Paul smiled as we walked over to him.

"Heard you got the best cookies in town". I smiled.

"Yeah that's right". He chuckled.

"Other than the ones you laced with mercury?" Marjan  asked and the guy looked up.

"Put your hands up right now!" Carlos yelled when he tried to run away.

Carlos handcuffed him and dragged him towards the police vehicle and I sighed.

"Man, I really wanted that food". I whined.

"That could be arranged. Wanna go out to eat after our shift?" Marjan asked as she turned to me.

"Um, are you asking me out?" I chuckled nervously.

"If you see it that way, then yes". She smiled.

"Uh, sure". I answered.
