"Keep your eyes open for street signs. Dispatch says the driver's GPS last pinged at 4th and Brazos". Owen said as we drove down the street.
"There's not a lot of 4th street left, much less street signs". T.k commented, looking out the window.
"Hell of a thing the randomness of tragedy. One side of the street just lost everything, and the other side looks like it could be open for business tomorrow". Owen added.
"Allah the most merciful, help all of them". Marjan prayed
"I mean, if he was merciful he wouldn't have let it happen in the first place, right?" Judd asked.
"I'm not about to question the almighty, but I have faith". She answered.
"You sound like my wife". He chuckled.
"Slow down. This is Brazos". Owen called out.
"Good God". I mumbled as we looked out the window at a car that was wedged between two building.
"Hello? Anybody in there?" Owen called as we got out the truck and approached the scene.
"Yes. I'm here". A lady yelled from inside the car.
"We're gonna get you out. Just hang tight". He said.
"It's not like she has a choice". Marjan said next to me.
"Yeah, that thing is gonna drop any second". I added.
"We can't get the truck in there". Owen commented.
"How the hell are we getting up to that?" T.k asked.
"We're not. We're gonna drop down onto it". Owen answered.
"Call in a crane and get it stabilized. Marjan, Cassandra, Paul, harness up. You're gonna rappel down from that roof right there". Owen instructed.
"Copy that". Marjan answered.
We ran towards the building the car was trapped between and came out on the roof.
"Hey,any update on that crane, boss?' Paul asked through the walkie.
"Dispatch says its hung up across town, we have to go without it". He answered.
"Look, I think I should go alone. I'm lighter". Marjan commented.
"You calling me fat, Marwani?" I asked and she gave me a look.
"No, I'm saying that one person should go and it should be me". She replied.
"That's very brave of you, Marj". Paul commented.
"Thanks buddy". She smiled.
"And the fact that you're such an eager beaver would have nothing to do with the news van that just pulled up?" He asked.
"Ah, you're slick, babe". I chuckled.
"Hey, someone's gotta make tonight's top story". She shrugged and I shook my head.
"Why not me?" She added.
"Or me? Check out how I rock this gear. Wait till they get a taste of this chocolate". Paul smirked.
"That's what I'm afraid of". Marjan joked, making me snicker.
Marjan strapped in and gravelled down towards the car. Paul and I held tightly to the rope strapped to her.
A couple seconds later, we could hear the car creaking and I began to worry.
"Paul?" I said worriedly.
