"Cass, Marjan, let's go. We got another call". Judd hollered outside the women's locker room.
"What have we got?" Marjan asked as we walked out and followed him to the truck.
"Lady's car hit the back of a truck and now he's dragging it along the highway". He answered, as we got in the truck.
"Good lord, Almighty!". Judd commented as we drove behind the truck dragging a car under it.
"Does he seriously not notice?" T.k asked.
"Can't see it in his mirrors. Probably never even felt the impact". Owen explained.
"Well, he can see us". I added.
Owen drove the fire truck in front of the semi, causing it to slow down, then come to a stop.
We got out and Paul took the fire extinguisher to put out the flames in the front of the car.
"One, two, three". Judd and Paul counted before taking the back windshield off.
"Hey, can you slide out?" I asked the lady in the backseat.
"Yeah, but what about her?" She asked as I helped her out.
"We'll get her next. Come on". I answered.
"Let's get medical to check you out". T.k said, taking her over to Nancy and Tim.
"Hold on". Owen told the driver.
"Do you have any idea when they can extract the driver?" Michelle asked, approaching us.
"No, I don't because the front half of this car is stuck under there. It's crushed like a soda can". Judd answered as we walked to the front of the car.
"Get in there. We have to bring her out the same way. I want these two posts out. Let's secure the trailer with some cribbing. Paul, Marjan, Mateo, get me the jaws, the spreaders, and a K12. Let's go!' Owen instructed.
Paul used the jaws to cut open the side of the car and I watched as marjan and Mateo pride open the car.
"The hydronic ram is in place". Paul said and Michelle went over to the driver.
"Ma'am? Ma'am, can you hear me?" She asked, placing a machine on her finger.
"Can you see me? Just focus on me, okay? Look at my eyes". She instructed.
"How are her vitals?" Michelle asked.
"BP's 81 over 42 and dropping fast". Tim answered.
"She's hemorrhaging". Michelle called.
"Paul, how much longer?" Owen asked.
"The hydronic ram isn't budging it. I'd say five, ten minutes". He answered.
"Heartbeat's 140 and thready". Nancy informed.
"She needs blood now. Gillian call West Park Memorial and see how fast they can get a trauma surgeon down here and some whole blood, okay?". Michelle told Nancy.
"Is Taylor okay?" The lady asked.
"She's okay, honey". Michelle answered.
"Oh, stay with me. Can you hear me?" She called when the heart rate machine started coding.
"Hurry up. We're losing her". Owen demanded.
"I'm going as fast as I can". Paul said.
"I'm gonna bolus this bag". Michelle informed.
"She's coding". Tim called.
"North west just called. They don't have any trauma surgeons and they can't get blood here for another hour". Nancy informed walking up to the car.
