"So, what's it like living with my sister?" Judd asked Marjan out by the lounge area.
"Amazing. Best decision I've ever made". She answered, winking over at me.
"I'm glad to hear that. It's been quiet without you around". Judd said, looking at me.
"Aw, does Juddy miss me?" I cooed and he rolled his eyes.
"What are we talking about?" Paul asked as he and T.k walked in.
"Judd's pining over Cassie moving out". Mateo answered making us laugh.
"All ready? I would have at least given it a month". T.k joked.
"All I said was that the house is quiet without her". Judd defended and I laughed.
Suddenly the bell went off and we got up and ran towards the truck.
"Austin FD! Open up!" Owen yelled, banging on the caller's door but no one answered.
"Got anything from dispatch?" Owen asked.
"They're supposed to be en route from dinner, but nobody can get a hold of them. So we got Animal control coming". Judd answered.
"All right, take it". Owen called, motioning towards the door.
"All right". T.k called, going over with the bar and prying it Open.
"All right let's find this nursery. Paul, Cassandra, Mateo, you guys look upstairs. Watch your step. We're dealing with a five-foot rattlesnake here". Owen ordered.
Mateo, Paul and I went upstairs to look for the nursery.
"Eyes on the ground, guys". Paul Warned.
We heard the cries of a baby and followed the noise until we reached the nursery.
"You haven't seen a big scary snake around, have you?" Mateo asked, going towards the child and picking him up.
"Is he hurt?" Paul asked.
"Check for swelling or puncture wounds". I told him.
"Nah, I'm pretty sure he just hates me". Mateo joked.
"It's okay. And I think he pooped". He added.
"Whoa". I shrieked once I saw the snake right by Mateo, so I took a plastic container and quickly placed it over the snake.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Paul squeaked.
"And I think I pooped" Mateo muttered.
"Finn!" The mother yelled as the parents came rushing in.
"He's okay. He's stinky, but he's okay". Mateo told her as he handed the baby to her.
"Thank you". She cried.
"Thank you so much". The father said shaking Mateo's hand.
"Sir, I wouldn't come any closer". I warned him when he tried to come over to me and jumped back once he saw the snake.
"Where's Danielle?" The mother asked.
"Where's your laundry?" Paul asked her.
"The basement". She answered.
Paul and I exchanged a look and sighed.
"Cap". Paul called over the radio as we rushed out of the room.
"Owners say there's a Crack in the foundation. They threw a tarp over it to create a moisture barrier, looks like that's what drew the snakes in". Paul explained once we regrouped by the truck.
