Thank you all. Anyway back to the story....
"Holy shit!" I mumbled as we stood in the field looking up at a Plane that landed upside down on a bunch of cable lines from a tower.
"Whoa, somebody did not stick the landing". Paul commented.
"All right, let's deploy the rescue cushion". Owen instructed.
"Dispatch, can you hook me up with the pilot?" Owen asked over the radio.
"I'm on it Captain Strand". Dispatch answered.
The sound of electricity crackling caught our attention as we looked up at the tower.
"Thought you said they turned the power lines off". Owen called.
"Yeah, they did. That must have something to do with the solar storm". My brother informed.
"Those added electrons in the air need a way to get to the ground". Mateo spoke.
"Okay, thanks, Professor now help us with the bag". I snapped as Marjan and I tried pulling it out the truck.
"Sorry". He mumbled.
"I've got you patched in with the pilot now, Captain." Dispatch spoke on the radio as Owen stood on the truck above us.
"This is Captain Owen Strand, Austin FD. Who am I talking to?" Owen said into the radio.
"This is Chuck Granger". The pilot answered.
"Chuck, how many people you got up there?" Owen asked.
"Three souls, sir". He answered.
"All right, we've deployed a rescue pad directly underneath you. I need you to open your door." Owen told him.
"Captain, this is an AirMed Flight. One of my patients is seriously ill." He said making me look at Owen.
"Yeah, I understand that. Just don't have many options and we're running out of time." Owen commented.
The door to the plane opened and the pilot swung his legs over the side.
"Oh, my God". The pilot muttered once he looked down.
"It'll be over before you know it. Now, I need you to hand the phone to the next person and jump". Owen instructed.
"All right, all right." He mumbled before we heard faint talking and he jumped out onto the rescue pad below.
"Who am I talking to now?"Owen asked over the radio.
"This is Kim". A lady answered.
"Hi, Kim, your turn". Owen said.
"I can't" She spoke.
"I know it's scary, but you saw how easy it was for Chuck." Owen assured.
"That's not it. My husband needs a liver transplant. That's why we were flying in. The fall could kill him". She explained and I let out a shaky breath.
