The Big Heat Part: Two

The last place I wanted to be was standing outside this asshole's door but something needed to be done and I'm sick and tired of this man messing with my family and my Firehouse, so I took a deep breath in before knocking on his door and a few moments later he opened it and looked at me in shock.

"Cassandra? What are you doing here?" He questioned confused.

"Sorry, I was just on my way out". He added making me shake my head before pushing past him to go inside.

"Or you can come in". He muttered closing the door behind me.

"uh, Billy... I know my brother looks up to you. You know, you trained him up from when he was a probie. You gave bar none... the second best toast at his wedding". I began and he looked at me confused.

"I appreciate that, I think". He commented.

"Uh, actually, I had Harkes help me punch it up a little bit, God rest his soul". He added.

"Yeah, God rest his soul". I nodded.

"And you, Judd and I are the only three surviving members of the original 126, after that terrible night, right?" I questioned rhetorically.

"And Judd.. He-he loves you. He loves you. Like a brother. But as you know you and I have had our differences and I really don't even like you.". I vented angrily.

"Well... Hey, I feel the same way about your brother and you-you and I don't necessarily get along but we managed to cope with each other under the 126". He shrugged.

"I'd love to sit here and play 'remember when', but it's not a good time". He added and I cut him off with a scoff.

"Yeah, and that's why Judd couldn't see it.  Neither could I. At first, right? He still couldn't see it but I can't look away". I commented and he looked at me confused.

"Because I know it was you, Billy". I yelled pointing my finger at him angrily.

"I know that you sold out the cap. And you did it for crimes that you done". I added making him sigh.

"You have no idea what you're talking about". Billy commented softly making me pushed him up against the wall.

"Don't lie to me, snake. Don't you lie to me. You set the fires, and I can't even say I'm surprised." I yelled in his face.

"You want to hit me? Think that will make you feel better? Hell, I know you've wanted to do it for a long time. Go ahead. Otherwise, get your damn hands off me". He stated making me take a deep breath before letting go of him.

I took a step back making him relax before I raised my fist and punched him in the side of the face causing him to fall backwards with a yell.

"Yeah, it did make me feel better." I yelled when he got up making him sigh.

"Get out of my house". He said calmly making me scoff before yanking the door open and slamming it closed behind me.

"I can't believe you actually punched him". Tommy chuckled as I sat in her office the next day whilst she checked over my bruised knuckles.

"Yeah, well, it was bound to happen after all the beef we got goin' on". I sighed.

"You really think he did it?" She questioned sitting down at her desk.

"I mean, it wasn't Owen and like he said, Billy fits the profile. And he's an arrogant turd, so I wouldn't put it passed him". I answered.

Suddenly the station alarm went off and I could hear Judd yelling downstairs to evacuate making me look at Tommy confused.

"This is Acting Captain Ryder. I need everybody to stop what they're doing. Evacuate across the street, and wait for me to give further orders". My brother's voice filled the stations intercoms making Tommy and I get up and help evacuate the other firefighters off the second floor before running downstairs behind them.

"Cass!" Marjan yelled once she spotted me and looked at her.

"I'm right behind you". I assured before she ran out the station with TK

"Keep it moving!" Tommy yelled as her and I looked back to see if everyone was out.

"Cass, is everyone out of there?" Judd yelled coming over to us.

"All clear, Captain!" I yelled jogging passed the staircase just as a loud explosion went off knocking me a few feet in the air before landing hard against the wall opposite the staircase.

"Cass!" My brother's voice screamed distantly through my ringing ears making me groan.

I tried to sit up as best as I could but the pressure in my head refused me to do so.

"Baby?" Marjan's voice came next when all of a sudden I was lifted up in Judd's arms and he and Tommy ran towards the exit with me and it all felt like slow motion until we were out and Judd was placing me on the ground and holding my head on his leg as Marjan grabbed my hand crying uncontrollably whilst Tommy looked me over.

"I'm fine". I groaned trying to sit up again as the crew looked down at me worriedly.

"You hit your head, Cassie. It's bleeding". Tommy commented applying pressure on the wound making me wince.

"You gave me such a heart attack". Marjan cried.

"Oh my God". I gasped looking at the station that was half way in flames making the crew look at the station and sigh.

After I had been checked out at the hospital, Marjan had drove us home and immediately got me in bed.

"Is this really necessary? I said I'm fine". I groaned and she gave me a pointed look.

"Babe, we saw you hit that wall. That didn't look fine at all". She reasoned.

"You heard the doctor, it's just a mild concussion". I shrugged.

"Yeah, but it could've been worse. And you kind of deserved it for punching an innocent man". She pointed out.

"Oh believe me, Billy had it coming for years... even if he wasn't the arsonist". I scoffed.

"Okay, well, our station is gone to shit and that leaves you with plenty of time to rest the pretty little noggin of yours". She smiled.

"Will you be my nurse?" I smirked making her chuckle.

"If it gets you to actually stay in bed this week, then yes". She smiled.

"Awesome. Hey, uh, I'm in a little bit of pain over here, do you mind helping me with it". I groaned and she looked at me worriedly.

"Where about?" She asked coming over to me.

"Right here". I smiled pointed to my lips making her laugh.

"I'm sure I can find a way to take the pain away". She smiled leaning in to kiss me softly making me hum.

"Would you look at that?... It's getting better already". I smiled against her lips making her chuckle before leaning in to kiss me again causing me to pull her on top of me.
