(Also this is in 3rd person narrative.)

Percy was nervous, sure he'd faced dozens of monsters, fought giants, even defeated the Titan lord Kronos but never before had he been as nervous as he was now.
Now 24 years of age, Percy had decided it was time, time to pop the question he'd been waiting to do for a long time. Annabeth and him were finally settled down, they had their own apartment, Annabeth had a stable career in an architecture firm and Percy was an upcoming Olympic swimmer, they were ready.

"Hey Perce, I'm home!" Annabeth called out as she walked through the front door, she dropped her bag on the floor and walked into the kitchen.

"Hey Wise Girl," Percy smiled, he was standing by the stove, today was spaghetti and meatball night.

"You're a mess," Annabeth chuckled, as she walked into his arms, wiping spaghetti sauce off of his check.
Percy chuckled and leaned down to kiss her.

"But I'm still yours," he smiled as he pulled back.

"That you are," she said as she sat down at the table. Percy stared at her as she took her hair down from it's pony,
'Gods she beautiful' he thought to himself, he then thought of the tiny box hidden within his dresser drawer.
'Tonight,' he told himself, 'tonight I'm going to do it'

"Hey Annabeth, how about we go for a walk later tonight?" He asked.

"A walk?" She asked looking up at him, her sparkling grey eyes making his heart pound.

'Gods, 8 years later and she still makes me nervous,'

"Yeah, a walk, you know, just around downtown," he tried to play it off casually.

"Okay," she eyed him, and he turned back towards the stove so she couldn't see his face.

______TIME SKIP______

"Come on Seaweed Brain, you're the one who wanted to go on this walk," Annabeth called from down the hall.

"Coming!" Percy replied, he took one last look at the box in his hand and stuffed it into his pocket.

"Let's go," Annabeth rolled her eyes as he walked down the hall. She was wearing light washed skinny jeans, a beige overcoat wraparound, tied at her waist, and a light grey beanie, flattening her curls that framed her face.

'How did I get so lucky?' Percy smiled.

"What are you smiling about?" Annabeth asked.

"Oh nothing," he said, as he pulled open the door.

__YET ANOTHER TIME SKIP__

Percy and Annabeth walked through Century Park. Other couples passed the two, all smiling and laughing.

"It's really nice out tonight," Annabeth suggested.

"Yeah," Percy mumbled.

"Alright, what's up," Annabeth stopped walking, turning to face Percy and crossing her arms.

"What?" Percy asked.

"Obviously something is bothering you, what is it," she questioned.

"Oh it's just, stuff on my mind," he shrugged.

"Well what kind of stuff, come on Seaweed Brain I'm your girlfriend, you can tell me," she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Percy avoided her eyes.

"Hey look at me," she turned his face to meet hers, "what's up?"

'Now! Do it now!' His brain screamed.

'No not yet!' The other half argued.

'Grow a pair and do it! You promised it would be tonight so do it!'

"Yeah, you know- hey what's that?" Percy pointed towards a few bushes behind Annabeth.

"Wh- what?" She asked still facing the bushes. "I don't see anything,"

"Hmmmm, must be a mistake," Percy said. Annabeth shrugged and turned around. Her eyes then widening, her hands coming up to cover her mouth.

"Oh my gods," she whispered.
Percy was on ground, on one knee, an open box in his hands. The ring sitting within was beautiful, it was a simple silver band, with a bright green stone sitting within the middle, she could see words inscribed on the sides but she couldn't decipher what they said.

"Annabeth, I love you, gods do I love you. When we first met I though you were a stuck up know it all and either that changed or I finally got some sense knocked into me because soon I couldn't help myself from noticing how beautiful and smart and funny you were,"
Passing couples were starting to stop and watch but Annabeth didn't care, her focus was for Percy and Percy only.

"And now, now I need to ask you something," Percy continued.
Annabeth's eyes were watering, her hands still over her mouth.

"Annabeth Chase, will you marry me?"
Percy waited a long 5 seconds before she nodded.
All she could do was nod, she didn't trust herself to open her mouth without screaming or bursting into tears so she nodded. Percy stood up, slipped the ring on her finger and pulled her down into a kiss. There were claps from the people watching them and a few sentences like.

"Awww how cute,"

"That's adorable."

"How come you never do that!"

Annabeth pulled back, her eyes still shining with tears, tears of joy.
"Percy, it's- it's beautiful!" She whispered as she stared at the rings.

She could finally read the words engraved on the band and she couldn't help but smile.

'Something permanent,' it read.
