3: Dreaming

Throughout the day Esme and Bella cooked for Jacob, Renesmee and I. For someone who didn't eat she was a great cook. As it got late I got tired but not cold because Jacob was sitting next to me and Renesmee was on my lap playing with my hair. She and I were fast friends. Finally Jacob started to doze off and Bella and Edward decided it was bedtime for Renesmee.

"Umm, can I ask a small favor?" I asked.

"What is it sweetheart?" Esme replied.

"Can someone please give me a ride back to my hotel? I would take myself but the roof of my car is upstairs and the rest is in a pile in your garage."

"You can stay here. There is a bed in the spare room that is never used."

"Thank you but I don't want to intrude. Plus, there are things in my hotel room that I need like my heated blanket." I didn't want to sleep there knowing the vampires would be awake the whole time. I wasn't afraid of them, actually I felt at home with them. I just knew I would be around for awhile and I didn't want them to feel crowded by the new girl.

"Take my car, we have plenty." Bella handed me her keys, "That way you have a way back in the morning."

"Try not to hit anything." Emmitt called from upstairs.

As I left Edward and Bella took Renesmee to their house in the woods and Jacob started walking back to the reservation.

"Do you need a ride Jake?"

He took a moment to think about it, "No, thanks. It's faster if I run." and I watched him disappear into the darkness.

My ride to the hotel was uneventful. I turned on the blanket to warm it up then took a shower. I was exhausted when I climbed into bed and had already started shaking but the bed was cold. My blanket was old and finally died. I had an extra heated blanket but it was destroyed in the crash.

I needed sleep so I got back into the bathroom and filled the tub up with hot water. I stripped down to my underwear and climbed into the water.

In seconds I was still and in minutes I was dreaming: There were yellow eyes moving towards me from the distance. I was scared and wanted to run away but someone was holding my hand. I turned as Jacob kissed me on my forehead then walked towards the monsters. As he got closer he morphed into a large red brown wolf. More wolves in different shades of gray and brown appeared at his sides. I knew they are Jacob's pack. The Cullen's were spaced out between them like statues.

The wolves and vampires were my protection from the coming danger. As I started feeling safe my dream world started shaking and I was the only one to notice.

Over time the water i was sleeping in cooled down and my shivering pulled me out of my dream. As the tub filled with hot water I walked to the window and as I looked out I felt like I was being watched but I didn't feel like I was in danger. I got back in the bathtub and quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.

The next morning I woke up with the sun. Sore. My back and neck hurt from sleeping in a hard bathtub and from being in a car crash. It was worth it though because my ribs felt better and I could move my leg without crying. I kept the brace on but ditched the crutches.

It was early but after being passed out for a day and a half, I couldn't sleep anymore. I pulled out my laptop to email my parents on the east coast to tell them about the accident. I would call but my phone was ruined in the rain. After I hit send I used the hotel's pen and paper to write a to-do-list.

•buy a new heated blanket

•new cell phone

•call the car insurance

After writing the list I went back online to find directions to the nearest shopping center. That would be the easiest way to get a new phone quickly. By the time I found where I needed to go my mother had already responded to my email.

She wasn't happy. I sent her back an email reassuring her that I was just fine and would call as soon as I had a new phone to give her the full details.

It was still too early to go to the store and I knew the vampires didn't sleep but I still didn't want to go over there too early. I decided to unpack my bags and put my clothes in the drawers. When I first checked into the hotel I didn't think I would be staying in Forks very long so I lived out of my suitcases. Now that I found what I was looking for, I planned on staying as long as I was welcome.

I took my time unpacking so time flew by and when I was ready to leave it was 8:30 and all the stores opened at nine. I grabbed my directions list and Bella's car keys and headed to the shopping center.
