"You all heard that, right?" I handed the phone to Carlisle.
"Sounds like we're making an airport trip."
"But we have a few hours and I'm not certain but I think I smell the sun rising. Does that make any sense?" I looked around hoping I didn't sound like a crazy person.
Carlisle smiled, "Yes. That is the smell of the air and earth warming. We still have 20 minutes or so though."
I suddenly needed to be outside. I wanted to see everything change first hand. I launched across the room with little effort and jumped out of the window without a second thought.
"It was easier that time wasn't it?" Jasper asked grinning.
I looked back up at the window where Jacob stood. It looked so much lower than before. "I didn't even think about it. It was like stepping off of a curb not out a second story window."
I heard and felt Jacob and Carlisle drop down behind be but I was too distracted by the forest under the dim light of the pre-dawn morning. The dust and pollen danced in the air but I could easily block that out to see nocturnal animals like an owl coming into nest for the day and other critters just waking.
"How long has it been since I came back?" I asked no one in particular.
Alice, who had just joined us outside answered, "A little over an hour. You were in the woods for six hours." She anticipated my next question.
'I was early.' I told Jake. I could feel, hear and smell him standing a couple of feet behind me.
'I was still about to come get you.' I felt the heat as he stepped closer to me.
"There is so much that wasn't there before." I said quietly but I knew everyone could hear me.
I stood still for what felt like hours looking at, listening to and smelling all the things I never knew were there before. I finally moved when Jake placed a hand on my hip and I realized only a few minutes had passed.
"There is so much more time." I tried to ignore the heat that radiated off of him and through me.
'More time for all sorts of activities.' Jasper could feel my reaction to Jacob's touch and I glared at him.
I kicked off my shoes to better feel the ground beneath my toes as it vibrated with the movement of hundreds of waking creatures and beasts.
"I want to run." I said excitedly wanting to use the energy I felt waiting in my legs.
"Perfect timing." Edward stepping into the clearing. "If you want to go for a run I might be the best guide."
Yes. He was the fastest and the best way to test my speed. I took a step toward Edward and the woods but lost contact with Jacob.
I looked back at him. "Are you coming?" I realized how tired he looked. He hadn't slept much in the last week, since I was first bitten, and I could see it in his face.
"No. Not now."
"Why?" I was worried he didn't want to be around me. I placed my hands on his chest.
"Normally I could keep up but I'm exhausted. And this is their thing. I handled the cat but they're the vampire experts." He placed a kiss on my forehead and I could feel the small heat from his lips in my chest. "Go. We have all the time in the world."
I reluctantly I kissed the well of his collar bone and left him and joined Edward just inside the tree line.
"Where are we going?"
