"I know, but I am done taking risks and putting people I love in danger, especially if we are talking about my wife and child." He mumbled and stopped in front of two Skaikru guards who opened up a hatch.
"Welcome to the Second Dawn bunker."
~~~
Roan smiled at his wife while the guards led them down a small, narrow staircase and the hatch immediately dropped shut behind them with a loud bang.
Meave's heart started to raise, but the king held her hand close to his chest to calm her.
"It's okay." He whispered. "It was just a noise."
"I know, it just really startled me...." She whispered back, her eyes trying to get used to the bright light that covered the entire purify room. When they finally did though, she decided to look out the big windows only to see how enormous the bunker actually was.
One big staircase circled around the huge lobby, it was almost as big as Polis' courtyard, and Meave and Roan made their way down there after changing clothing, ready to meet the rest of the people who were sheltering inside the second dawn bunker.
"This'll be okay to live in for a bit." She crossed her arms, a cold breeze from the big vent making her shiver.
"It's only for a few weeks." He rubbed her back and greeted the rest.
'It's only for a few weeks,' she repeated in her head, looking around the concrete walls and floor. It looked so somber, so empty. It reminded her of the Ark. 'Just a few weeks and we're free.... free from the nuclear disaster and problems and free to finally go to Azgeda.'
Meave greeted a few of the ambassadors as well just like Roan had done and Roan and her went to settle in their temporary bedroom straight away afterwards.
She needed rest and honestly Roan needed it as well.
The days that followed were all the same.... filled with eating, waiting and sleeping. It was like everything and everyone was stuck in a time loop and Meave's frustrations grew bigger and bigger the days that passed. The days arrived that she would launch herself at people if they said one particular thing wrong to her or she would crumble to the floor whenever her mind thought back to everything she had been through.
She just had to get out....
Roan on the other hand was the only one who managed to stay controlled in that cursed concrete prison.... even Kane's patient slowly drained from him and Indra's focus had abandoned her.
All alone, Meave was sitting on a metal bench in front of her shared room in a small hallway. She hated being in her bedroom without Roan cause everything felt so empty, so the smaller the space the more comfortable she was alone.
With her face buried in her hands, she forced herself to think as positively as she could while she waited on her husband. Sooner or later they were probably allowed to finally get out of here and she was sick of her own negative behaviour. Not only did it affect those around her, it also affected herself.
"Ai Haiplana!" [My Queen!]
"Roan?" Her head quickly shot up and he reached out to her, offering her his hand to help her stand up. "You're early!" She smiled happily and the man bowed his head slightly, kissing her slender hand.
