"Exactly." Meave nodded and watched the king grabbing Clarke and placing a knife to her throat which meant they clearly knew about their plan or else he wouldn't do something so reckless as to force the people to stand down because Clarke was the only one who knew the phrase to make the flame usable.
"Do it. Do it now."
~~~
"ON YOUR KNEES! DROP YOUR WEAPONS!! AGAINST THE WALL!"
"TURN AROUND!!"
Before Meave knew what was happening, she could head Bellamy grunt and she followed quickly, her chest being forcefully shoved against the wall beside him. She had to be honest and say what happened to her she couldn't care less about right now, my concern went to Roan who was centrally located between the zombie-like people. She could see him from the small window in the wall she was being pushed against and she didn't even struggle when she was handcuffed. She was too focused on the king who was hesitating whether he had to give up or flee.
Both would probably end up with death anyway....
From afar she could see his jaw clenching when the circle of people closeness around them and he leaned into Clarke's ear, whispering something before pushing himself and her through the huge waves of brainwashed people. And it actually went pretty well at first, until someone appeared in front of him with a gun.... that someone being Kane.... Meave's eyes went big seeing him standing on the opposite side of Roan with a black gun in his hand...... finger on the trigger..... aiming for the best shot.... and then without any hesitation fired it.
Roan grabbed a hold of his chest in pain within the same second and fell to his knees weakly before he fell forward, his life draining out of his body when his cold ice blue eyes glanced his lover's way one last time.
Meave couldn't hear the screams around her anymore, or even feel the men pulling her along with them, all she cared about was Roan.... and he was gone now, his body bleeding out on the gray streets of Polis that were now colouring red.
She could feel her world crumble around her while she watched what had happened and it felt like the floor beneath her turned into a deep dark well she was falling into, ending up in complete darkness with no light.... no emotions except for grieve.
Her bottom lip began to tremble, her bloodshot eyes burned as the tears bottled up in the corner of her eyes and her breathing became unsteady.
She had lost everything....
Her vision was gone, her ability to speak was gone, all she could do was hear all the gunshots and suddenly feel a hand on her shoulder to gently try and pull her away from the view she had been staring at for the best 10 minutes.
She was turned around and the guy before her was hazy, but his voice was familiar. "Meave? you're okay?" The only thing she could do was shake her head at Murphy.
"Leave her." Bellamy responded quickly from a few meters away and Murphy gently patted her on the back before he left the sobbing woman alone again.
Trying to wipe her own tears with the edge of her sleeves, she was able to see Bellamy approach her and he opened his arms to her. Before she could process what was going on, she was pulled into a tight hug and she broke down again, crying into Bellamy's shoulder while thinking about the lifeless Roan. She just wanted to give up now.
"I'm sorry to break the reunion, but did you guys miss the part where it's time to go?"
"We're not leaving." Bellamy's voice turned stern as he was supporting Meave so her knees wouldn't drop to the floor.
"We just saved your lives. Why do I think I'm gonna regret that?"
"Clarke is in trouble." Bellamy laid Meave down against the wall before taking a few steps towards the sarcastic man.
"Clarke's always in trouble-...." Murphy interrupted with a grin.
"They took her and the Flame to the tower. It's safe bet Ontari's there, too. Everything we need to stop A.L.I.E is in the same place."
"If we go up that tower, we won't be able to fight our way out again." Octavia smartly addressed while she glared at both men and it seemed that Murphy totally agreed with Octavia while Bellamy of course 100% didn't.
"If we stop A.L.I.E, we won't have to." Murphy turned around to see Pike standing in one of the tunnels and Pike sighed when he noticed how disgusted everyone looked. He then looked at the ground defeated as he gave Bellamy a gun for his own defense.
"Up the tower. Great. You know, after this, doing the right can kiss my ass." Murphy walked away from the group, probably annoyed with the new plan and Meave carefully pushed herself up against the wall.
Her tears were gone for now, she couldn't cry anymore even if she wanted to, but now she felt rage and hate for a man she once saw as a father figure. She knew he didn't do it himself, but it was his hand who pulled the trigger.
Deep in her own thoughts, Bellamy put his arm under hers to help her up and together they followed Murphy through the tunnels.
It took awhile, but at the end of the wet dark tunnels, they ended up in the hallway she adored so much because of all the memories, the memories she didn't want to think about now or else she would end up as a crying mess once again.
"How are we gonna get up?" Nathan asked while he checked if the coast was clear.
"The elevator...." Meave whispered and everyone nodded. It was the most obvious after all. There were grounds who pushed a kind of wheel that laid sideways to make the elevator go up or down so that meant they had to get to them first.
Stepping around a few corners, they ended up at the place where the grounders were supposed to make the elevator work and luckily, those were the first people they spotted and they looked very tired. Not truly a danger for them. They could just knock them out. Unfortunately, some other people thought differently. Gunshots were heard echoing through the room, followed by grunts coming from the grounder and Meave obviously couldn't hide her anger. She then looked to the side to see who else disagreed and the rest couldn't hide their anger either.
"Hey! I told you that is not how we're doing this."
"They were in our way."
"These people are not our enemy. They're being controlled by A.L.I.E and we can save them." Meave walked by her own again and had her sword resting on her hip in case something bad would happen. She didn't have it there to kill people though, she had it for self defense.
"There's gonna be a lot more of these people if we don't move." Nathan warned them while he walked beside Meave.
"Let's do this."
"I'll bring it down." Indra pushed a handle away from her and the chains around a spinning pole started to turn the other way around so the elevator would lower itself.
"Once we're up, you blow the elevator and then climb."
"Destroy the ladder behind us. On it." Bryan ran past Meave and she quickly glanced at Murphy and Bellamy as Murphy was, again, not satisfied by the plan.
"Come one, you do realize we don't have a way down, right?"
