"Yes. You think the king will leave his wife alone during these chaotic times?"

"No..." She sighed and stared in front of her.

This wasn't going to be peaceful at all.

The walk ended right outside of Polis with Meave resting on a fallen tree trunk, staring into the quiet green forest. It saddened her that the amount of animals had already become less and the beautiful blue butterflies were nowhere to be seen anymore either. It concerned her a lot about what was coming. Skaikru was smart. Yes. But a new nuclear disaster? She knew they didn't have the right resources to make a ship for everyone to fit in and they obviously couldn't stop it.

The guards in the meantime had taken their distance from her which was a relief. She didn't like being followed around all day, but it seemed like she had to get used to it. Roan was protective and it was needed in this world. Especially now she was with a protective king.

"Can I talk to the queen?" She could hear someone ask in the distance and she turned her head around, watching Kane trying to get through the guards as she was still laying down on the tree trunk.

"Meave, I need to talk to you!" He yelled from behind the men who blocked the path towards her.

"You see those guards? They are meant to keep you away from me!"

"Please, Meave! Tell them to back off!" He signed to the guards, a desperate tone in his voice.

"Fine! Let him." She commanded and lowered their weapons so he could get past the two.

Honestly she wasn't ready to talk to him, but it was time to stop blaming anyone for the shot except for A.L.I.E. and she was also curious what he had to say. "What do you want?" She sat up, losing her attention to the beautiful forest again. She did feel the tree trunk roll underneath her feet a little since Kane let himself drop onto the tree trunk as well.

"Forgiveness.... it wasn't my conscience who shot the king. It wa-...."

"A.L.I.E., I know. So what? I almost lost the man I love and your finger was the one to pull the trigger."

He sighed softly, placing a hand on her shoulder to get her attention. The guards however were ready to attack if it wasn't for Meave to hold up her hand to stop them. "Don't, he has no weapons." She pointed out and they immediately backed off again.

"I'm sorry, I truly am." He whispered, eyes glassy and full of guilt which kinda broke Meave's heart. There was something in his facial expression too that made her think he had more than just regret. She had never seen him like this. "Please forgive me."

"I uh.... I think I do." Meave smiled warmly, wanting to pull him out of the deep dark place he threw himself into and she carefully wrapped her arms around him. Kane instantly shivered though, feeling her extreme coldness on his warm skin and his eyes went big while she let go. She knew it felt inhuman and she sighed. The idea of him or anyone besides Roan knowing about her being an Azblida wasn't a delightful thought, but leaving him unanswered would perhaps create the thought she was dying.

"When I first met Roan he explained to me why I'm sometimes extremely cold." She whispered. "It is totally normal, well.... for my body it is. I have had it since I was born so please don't worry about it. I'd love to keep it a secret though so please don't go around and tell people about this." She explained.

"So.... you're not going to die? But you leave me with this big mystery I am not allowed to know about?"

"Yep." She chuckled softly.

"Great."

"You'll know when the time is right and people don't have such a big interest in it anymore." She quickly added and he nodded, smiling a bit too.

"Roan, please, it is not too late to cancel."

"You failed to do this Azgeda's way. Soulo gonplei. Take your seat ambassador." [Single combat.] Roan spoke sternly and his eyes immediately stopped to rest on the empty chair of Trishanakru.

"Where is Rafel Kom Trishanakru?"

Exactly on the moment Roan asked, Echo stormed through the doors and leaned into Meave's ear, whispering Rafel had died. She carefully nodded and got up, hands folded behind her back.

"The ambassador was found dead this morning. His heart stopped." She addressed and closed her eyes respectfully. "Hofli Keryon kom Heda na shoun em hou klir." [May the spirit of the commanders guide him safely home.]

"Let us begin."

Meave sat back down on her throne as Roan spoke and as she listened to the things that had to be discussed, her body shook by the sudden coldness that hit her.
