"So.... any luck?" Meave asked when they were left alone in the throne room.

"She will sort it out for us."

"Good."

[Meave Collins]

"Leave us!" Roan commanded his guards to leave as Octavia, unannounced, walked in with a blood coloured reed bag, blood dripping down into a puddle when she stopped. The guards immediately without asking any questions and Octavia and Meave locked gazes for the first time in weeks. It had been so long since she had talked or even seen Octavia and so it was weird to see that they both had changed a lot in such a period of time.

When the sound of the heavy doors closing was heard echoing through the almost empty room, Octavia dropped the bag and opened it, showing the king and queen a face Meave couldn't quite remember.

"He was one of the looters. You were wrong about the flame keeper."

"And the flame?" Something in Roan's eyes told Meave he never once believed a word from what she had said and honestly, neither did she. Octavia could lie and hide it pretty well, but Meave knew Roan had been right about the young Flamekeeper.

While Roan and Meave shared a doubting glare Octavia also showed the flame, letting the small broken pieces fall into the king's hand.

"Destroyed before I could kill him. I'm sorry." She bowed slightly and Roan threw the pieces of the 'flame' into the fire.

"It'll be more dangerous now. More people will have to die to keep me or her in power, no that that bothers you, Skairipa."

"People fell in line behind the flame. Now they'll fall in line behind the sword."

"Let's hope Clarke finds a way to save us before they have to. Get out." She once again bowed slightly, disappearing behind the doors that opened up for her again so she could leave. Afterwards, the guards tried to walk back in, but Meave signed for them to stay put and give them a minute alone.

"I don't believe a word she said." Roan immediately voiced.

"It sounds like an easy excuse to me, yes. But we can't start a riot about this either. If we do, everybody will soon hear we lost the flame." Meave sighed and got up, slowly sitting down on his lap to run her hand through his hair calmly.

"Now what?"

"I don't know...."

The following week caused them both extreme insomnia and their concerns grew bigger each day. They could lose their leadership at any moment, chaos could break out at any moment, and then the nuclear disaster that was still going to happen and kill them all also creeped into their minds. It was awful.

Roan, besides the common concerns, was also worried about his wife.

They still had no explanation for why her body had a low freezing temperature and it bothered Roan a lot. It became even so bad, he wasn't himself anymore and she honestly wanted to get herself experimented on so she could put his mind to rest. However, even if she was so reckless to do so, he would never let anyone experiment on her. He wanted her to be safe and wanted to keep her special blood a secret so no one would hurt her for it, so going to Abby or any other doctor wouldn't be an option.

They were pacing around in the Embassy since they were waiting on something and Meave stopped for a second.

"Roan?" She suddenly reminded herself she didn't have her period in a couple of months and the sex flashed before her eyes which made her feel dizzy immediately. "What if I-...."

Before she could finish her question, the door was kicked open and Kane was led inside, him just as confused as Meave.

"Is there a reason we're meeting in the Embassy? I would have thought-...."

"Tell me the plan." Roan stared at Kane with flames burning in his eyes and Meave grew even more confused.

"The plan?"

"It's been 3 weeks since Clarke told me Praimfaya would once again destroy our world. Skaikru asked for time to find a solution. What do you have to show for it?"

"We're still working on it." Kane tried to explain and Roan turned his head away in annoyance, laying his blue eyes on Meave's to sign they would continue their conversation later. "Hopefully, with more time-...."

"Enough. Echo." Roan raised his hand to shut the older man up and Kane watched the queen with a questioning look which she answered with a shrug.

She, also, has no idea what was going on.

Without wasting any time, Echo walked in with two prisoners, one of them being Bellamy.

"Stephens, Bellamy, are you alright? What is this?" Kane quickly rushed to the two tied up men while they were brought to their knees.

"Echo saw your people rebuilding your ship. She captured these two hunting in my woods. This one says it's a shelter from the radiation."

"It's a backup plan, nothing more."

"He said that, too, just before he told us that you have a nightblood. It's a good thing the Flame's been destroyed, or I'd be worried you're planning an ascension." Meave instantly looked up and joined Roan's side, shocked this all wasn't explained to them yet. It was as if they didn't want them to survive and leave them all behind.

"You have to trust me. We discovered that nightblood helps metabolize radiation. We're investigating ways to create it for everyone, turn everyone into nightbloods so we can all survive." Kane tried to explain everything as quickly as possible to prevent someone from dying. However, Roan got even more worried by hearing their plan. The idea of everyone being a nightblood except for his wife scared him. Her blood was too thick and so it couldn't get replaced.... She wouldn't survive.

"Blasphemy. Nothing they tell us is true." Echo interfered.

"This is. It's not Blasphemy. It's.... it's science. If nightblood can save lives, we should use it...."

A long silence followed and suddenly Roan locked gazes with Echo before giving her a sharp nod. Before everyone knew it a knife was placed against Stephen's neck and she slit his throat, watching the prisoner choke on his own blood.

"NO!!"

"Warriors don't reveal their secrets."

"Roan....?" Meave whispered and tugged at his shirt, trying to get through him, but he was too busy with the rest to even hear her and he continued.

"Truth is the first causality of war. If your motives were pure, you would've shared your plan with me. Our alliance is broken. Skaikru en Trikru belaik baga." [Skaikru and Trikru are the enemy.]

"Hashta emo, Amin?" [What about them, sir?]

"Kepon. Hon Indra en Okteivia daun. Teik enes au." [Hostages. Find Indra and Octavia. Kill everyone else.]

In panic, Meave closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

War against her old clan or against her own husband....
