"Letting the ambassadors have a voice keeps the peace here." The deep voice ended her sentence and she smiled at him. "Azgeda holds this city through force alone, and the flame won't keep the claws at bay forever. If they unite against us, we could lose, and if we lose-...."
"They come for Skaikru."

Meave had tried to stop her husband, but Roan was too damn stubborn to even take one day off to rest so they ended up in the throne room together with Echo once again. They were training hard and it got Meave all worried, but she let him figure out he was still in pain for himself.
Swords striking after swords striking, punch after punch, Roan was growing weaker, but Echo tried to keep Roan back into the game in the hope he would build up some strength. He had to make sure he could stand a chance against the hostile ambassador of course, but it wasn't going that well.
In Roan's favor though he got Echo on her knees, but just before he could deliver his final blow, the pain in his chest shot through his entire body and he tried to support himself instead of defend himself. Echo took advantage of the situation, disarmed him and pointed her sword at his throat.
"Spichen." [Damn it.] He growled and Abby walked to the king slowly.
"Let me take a look." She said as he turned to her and pulled his tank top down a bit at his collar to show the healing bullet wound.
"You're healing, but you need more time."
"I don't have time." He growled again, clearly upset he lost his strength by some stupid injury.
"Chomouda yu na teik disha throudon in idowe? Yu laik Haihefa. Fis klin oyu bakon noumou, nami?" [Why accept this challenge at all. You're a king, make your own rules.]
"Ai don tel yu op. Ai nou na gon kaina haiefa kom daun." [I told you. I won't be that kind of king.]
To everyone's surprise, Echo suddenly took action and attacked him again. The king could raise his sword just in time though and hit her sword out of his way, almost cutting her in the process. It drove them apart and to either side of the room, Roan's back facing Echo as he took a deep breath. It was clear to Meave he was in pain and she tried to reach for him but he shook his head. He didn't want her to interfere as he switched his sword to his none hurting arm.
Loosening his shoulders, he swung his sword in Echo's way with speed and she blocked his attempt, stumbling back a bit before she fixed her posture again.
For a minute Meave thought it was going okay, both fought strong, but in the end she noticed her king was slowing down to the point Echo managed to get him onto his back. He was gasping for air, clearly in too much pain to accept the challenge.
"I would be honored to take your place in this fight." Echo twisted her sword in her hand, offering her free one to Roan.
"I will not run from this challenge." He stubbornly declined her offer and Meave rushed to his side to help him up after he tried to push himself up with one arm, the other one supporting his chest.
"Echo's right." Abby confirmed. "I didn't save your life so that you could tear yourself apart again."
"Should I remind you that Kane was the reason you had to save his life in the first place. You owed him this so don't ever dare to use it against him." Meave snapped angrily, supporting Roan slightly so he could stand up straight.
"If you can't help me, why the hell are you still here?" Roan watched Abby with annoyance and she nodded at the two of them before leaving the room, leaving Meave, Roan and Echo alone.
"This fight can still be avoided. Protecting Skaikru gives the other clans an excuse to challenge you. Let me take care of the problem. Let me do what your mother would have done." Echo surprise attacked him again after what she said, but Meave hadn't seen it coming and was still helping Roan. Luckily, he did see it coming and gently pushed Meave behind him so she wouldn't get hurt.
"NO!" He blocked the blow and growled deeper as the pain grew worse.
"Then please tell me, what did Wanheda offer? What deal is worth losing the faith of your people?"
Roan tried to straighten his back and stand tall, but his wife could see in the way his body tensed up, the pain hadn't left.
"Chance to survive the end of the world. That's what they are offering to all of us." Echo's jaw dropped slightly, her eyes widened and a glance of shock was possible seeing in them. "Soon Praimfaya will once again destroy everything. Skaikru's trying to stop it."
"My king, they're lying to you. They'd say anything to save themselves. Let me prove it to you. Send me to Arkadia."
"Your only concern now should be helping me win. Once I do, you may go to Arkadia. Prove my trust in Wanheda's deserved."
Nodding at each other to show they were willing to continue the battle, Roan first turned around to his beautiful wife.
"Ai Haiplana, take some rest." [My Queen.] He whispered gently and rubbed her sides which made her raise her brow. She was tired. "You're freezing, Angel. Any reason for that?"
"I don't know. I don't think so." She whispered back, noticing Roan seemed worried. "I'm okay, I promise." He again showed his concern and pulled her close which made her sigh and nod. "Fine, but please join me after you're done."
"Deal." He kissed her neck softly before he let go again and turned his head around to Echo, fire in his eyes as he readied his posture. Meave didn't watch long after that and made her way through the big hallways to the elevator. It was empty and thankfully already on her floor so she could get in right away and go to the main floor. She had decided to go down to the gardens to make a peaceful walk to clear her mind, however the elevator doors suddenly opened and two guards stepped in.
"The king sent you?" She asked and they both nodded.
"Yes. You think the king will leave his wife alone during these chaotic times?"
"No..." She sighed and stared in front of her.
This wasn't going to be peaceful at all.
