Meave knew Roan had brothers too, but he had told her before that they sucked or had died before his eyes in war. The brothers that still were alive though, he wasn't even sure anymore if they really were alive and that's why he probably referred to Meave as his only good person. She felt honoured and proud.

~~~
It had been a few days and Meave woke up all alone this morning. To her surprise her king had disappeared out of nowhere, leaving her all alone in his bed without even thinking about leaving a note to tell her where he was going.
Alone, she stared outside of the window he had left open and sighed while pushing herself up from their shared bed. She kinda wished he would have woken her instead of leaving without a word because it felt like something urgent had happened and she had to worry about him. Meave let her worried thoughts take control and snatched her shirt from the small wardrobe to pull it over her head to cover herself a bit. After that, she leaned over the bed to straighten the sheets and fix the pillows before she sighed.
"Had he perhaps said something about leaving yesterday?" she whispered to herself while she put on the rest of her clothing, but then shook her head. "No...."
Still sleepy, she rubbed her eyes to get used to the bright sunlight in the hallway and she slowly walked down the stairs.
In the distance, Meave could already hear hard grunting and screaming and she started to rush down the last few stairs, afraid something bad had happened downstairs. She arrived at the assembly room fast because she guessed the noise came from there and then spotted Roan standing in the doorway with an annoyed facial expression towards another Azgeda warrior in front of him.
"No matter." The female warrior began. "When I'm Heda and the king bows to me, you and every last member of Skaikru will die." She confidently stated and Meave furrowed her brows watching the scene. She then carefully began to walk as quietly as possible towards Roan who had already seen her entering and he nodded and signed to her that she was allowed to stand next to him.
"Roan?" She whispered into his ear as she stood right behind him. "What happ-...?"
"Lexa died and Ontari there, Azgeda's Natblida, likes to rub in the fact that she is stronger than the other Natblida children." He pointed at Ontari.
"Lexa-.... Lexa died...?"
"Mhuh...." He hummed and gently squeezed her hand unnoticeable. "I'm sorry, love."
Meave didn't know Lexa that well other than seeing her at the meetings or beside Clarke, but the last few days they had started to talk a little and had some good and friendly moments together so it was hard to hear Lexa had died nonetheless. The Heda was strong, intelligent, skilled and nothing was wrong physically or mentally so why and how did she die?
Meave couldn't understand it and while she was trying to put the pieces together in her head, she hadn't noticed that the dark-haired woman, Ontari, suddenly aggressively pointed at Meave. "She was the one you were with last night when I tried to ask you something, wasn't she my king?" Roan glared even more stern and angry at her now and he even closed his eyes to blow out some steam.
"Last night?!" Roan confused, but confidently questioned and he opened his eyes again, fire in them. He clearly had no idea Ontari had stood before our door last night as well. "No matter how badly you need to speak to me, but it isn't an emergency, you will wait until the day that follows. That's an order!" He growled, his jaw clenched and his eyes burning with fire.
Ontari only scoffed at him in response before she slowly positioned herself behind the king again and along the way her eyes never had left Meave's. She herself had noticed it this time too and swallowed as she tried to ignore the woman that was now behind her because she clearly had some kind of hate towards her. Clarke in the meantime didn't seem so enthusiastic as well and the rest of the people in the room were also shocked, gasping and mumbling to each other about Meave, a Skaikru, sleeping with the king of Azgeda.
The woman nervously stepped back and forth as she saw Roan scanning the room before he leaned into her ear. "Think of it as a good thing, we don't need to be strangers anymore."
~~~

Ontari had stared at Meave the whole way back towards the currently empty and quiet market and had turned away from the couple when they arrived at the gates of Polis. Meave had honestly no idea where they were going together, but remained silent. She wasn't going to ask him. Once at the gates of Polis that were still open to receive late night traders, Roan had grabbed her hand gently and pulled her with him, leaving Polis behind. She was literally dragged all the way through the woods by the strong blue-eyed man, not knowing where he escorted her to, but after an hour or two of peacefully walking through the lit up forest, they ended up at a beautiful cliff which was still nearby Polis. The sky was beautifully lit up by the moon and stars and because of the reflection of the moonlight shining into the depths of the cliff it looked like it was heaven or another universe.

Roan sat down onto a fallen tree trunk and looked up at his woman, glaring at her to sit down next to him which she did.

Meave dropped herself down onto the tree trunk as well and gave her legs a swing so they leaned onto the tree and she could lay her head on Roan's lap.

Together they then stared up at the dark, but clear sky and she couldn't hide a smirk.

He was just so handsome....

The stars reflected into his blue eyes beautifully, his sharp jaw was more visible because of the moonlight outlining it and so were his scars. The sight of not only the nature around them, but also the handsome king was delightful and she pushed herself up with her elbows to relieve the desire she was feeling.

Roan melted into the kiss immediately and slid his tongue inside her mouth to deepen the kiss he received from her. His hand slowly went under her shirt as she pulled Roan closer and their lips moved perfectly together before suddenly Roan retreated his hand and pulled away. "Wait." He held his finger to his mouth and focused on the sounds around him like he had heard something while they were kissing and was looking for the sound again.

"Hm?" Meave furrowed her eyebrows as he didn't even pay attention to her anymore and it made her curious.

"Sorry-...." He softly said before checking his surroundings as well. "I thought I heard the victory horn."

"But that's impossible, the conclave between those children haven't even started yet." The last few words died on Meave's tongue when the second horn was heard.

"Let's go. We'll continue this activity later on, I promise." Roan looked at Meave again and she removed her head from his lap so he could stand up, offering her his hand to help her up as well.

"We are going to check it out?"

"Of course we are going to check it out, I'm still a king, Meave."

"I know." She nodded and took his hand in hers to get up before he slid his arm around her waist so he could hold her close and walk back to Polis and the assembly room together.

It became darker by the second and the light of the moon had disappeared behind the walls, making the sky completely black as they arrived in Polis. After what felt like forever they also arrived at the tower again and Roan was pushing himself through the crowd first so Meave could walk the path that he freed for her. That was until he suddenly stopped moving though which caused the woman to almost stumble into his back. It shocked her and she gently tapped him on the shoulder to ask him why he stopped before he turned around himself, making Meave follow his gaze instead of just telling her why he had stopped walking and then she saw it. Fuck.
