At first it started off as an accident. Something that they didn't mean to do, something that they promised they wouldn't do again. In the heat of an argument you were hit. Both of you were stunned, tears threatened to fall down your face, but they had stopped you from leaving. Apologizing profusely, promising never to hurt you again; what a lie that was.
Soon it became what was expected; every night the same thing happened and every morning empty sorries. Apologies were fake and empty. They apologized constantly but never meant it.
You were to think it was your fault, you were the reason you were getting hit, bruised, gaslighted, manipulated. You. Not them. They were a good lover and you were just so cruel and awful to them. You'd cry yourself to sleep some nights when they didn't come home other nights would be where the both of you lay naked in bed.
You didn't cry anymore and all you felt was guilt, but not for yourself. You felt like you had to do what they say after all they did threaten to hurt themselves all because of you. Why were you so cruel to them? How could you fix your mistakes?
"You almost done getting ready?" You heard their voice through the bathroom door.
"Mhm...just five more minutes." You reply back to them as you try your best to make it seem that the bruise they gave earlier wasn't seen.
"You always do this, Y/n, I told you to get ready earlier, but now it'll be your fault we're late." They sigh.
I'm sorry. You had no time to voice an apology before you heard them walk away from the door.—
"Really, Y/n?" You turn to them confused. "You really couldn't have tried harder to look good?"
"I'm sorry, but we were in a rush and we were going to be late so I tried to hurry up but-"
"I'm sick of your excuses, just don't embarrass me." You can't make eye contact with them anymore. Their look stings, you keep your mouth closed as you look away from them.
Once you got to the house you noticed that everyone was in the backyard. It was mid summer after all no wonder they were in the backyard. You were greeted with the smell of barbecue, the sound of laughter and giggles and talking, and some kids playing in the pool in the backyard. The place looked comfortable and for once you felt not so scared to be with Kai.
"Well would you look who it is? Someone decided to finally show up!" You looked in front of you seeing a guy with blonde hair, he had bristles on his chin, and looked about to be in his late 30s or so.
"I'm sorry Tai, but someone was being slow." You smile politely at the man.
"It's okay as long as you're here now." He turns his attention to you. "I'm Taiyang Xiao Long, you must be their girlfriend."
You nod, "It's nice to meet you. I'm Y/n L/n."
"You look to be my daughters age."
Kai was about ten years older than you, maybe more. You were in your early 20s while they were closer to forty. You didn't care though after all they had convinced you that age was just a number and as long as you loved each other so be it. Right?
"Oh well, I...uhm-" You didn't know what to say and you didn't want your stuttering to upset them.
"Speaking of my daughters why don't I introduce you to them and their friends?" So many people...
"Dad...tell Yang to stop splashing water at me and Weiss!" You hear a voice whine and you turn your head to see a girl with silver eyes, black hair with red highlights at the end, staring at Taiyang, she was about 18.
"Ruby this is Y/n. They're Kai's girlfriend." Ruby turned to you.
"Kai's girlfriend? But Kai's old! And you're so young!" You smile at her. She's cute, but you can tell that Kai didn't like how people were talking to you.
"It's nice to meet you Ruby." You say politely.
"Nice to meet you too, Y/n." Ruby replies. "Anyway, Dad tell Yang to stop splashing me and Weiss!"
"Yang come here." Tai said.
You hear a groan and then see a blonde girl walk up to Tai. Oh. The blonde girl who you can guess is named Yang looks to be the same age as you, she's taller than you too, she has lilac eyes, and when she looks at you she smiles.
"This is Y/n." Tai introduces you to another of his daughters. Ruby and Yang don't look related.
"Yang." The girl says.
You nod smiling, you two stare at each other's features for awhile. Her eyes trail down your body then back up to your face and suddenly you feel anxious and uncomfortable. You turn to Kai. Shit...they look so angry...
"Come and hang out with us, Y/n, we'll leave the oldies to talk to each other." Yang invites you. You turn to Kai, they nod slowly giving you a go ahead.
"Okay." You turn back to Yang and she grabs your hand leading you away from them and to beach chairs where people are already sitting on them.
