Today was the first Quidditch match of the season. The snow was heavy and it was freezing cold, but this weather was even better, and all the Quidditch players know so.
We were sitting in the great hall eating breakfast before the game, when we saw Ron walking in, looking as nervous as the first years when they're getting sorted.
"He looks rough." I said.
As he was walking, the Slytherins were laughing at him or pointing things out. He finally took a seat across me and looked down at his plate, messing around with his food.
"So, how was it?" he asked.
"How was what?" asked Hermione.
"Your dinner party."
"Dead boring."
"I think Harry enjoyed dessert." I teased, earning a warning look from him, causing me to laugh.
"Slughorn's having a Christmas do, you know. And we're meant to bring someone." said Hermione.
"I expect you'll be going with McLaggen. Isn't he a member of the Slug Club?" asked Ron.
"Actually, I was going to as you." she said.
"Really?"
"Really."
At this point, Harry and I were hitting our hands excitedly under the table at the moment between Ron and Hermione.
"Good luck today, Ron." said Lavender as she approached us. "I know you'll be brilliant!"
Ron smiled faintly while Hermione stared at her sharply. Harry and I looked at each other and shrugged.
"I'm resigning." said Ron. "After today's match. McLaggen can have my spot."
"You can't let him." I whispered to Harry. "Say something."
"Like what?" he whispered back.
"I don't know Harry come up with something."
"Have it your way. Juice?" he said to Ron.
"Sure..." said Ron.
"Hello everyone. You look dreadful, Ron." said Luna.
He nodded and then she looked over at a smiling Harry and I. It was as if she knew exactly what we had done. Then she looked over at Ginny and smiled.
"Is that why you put something in his cup?" she asked. "Is it a tonic?"
Ron looked over at Harry and I then at Hermione. He spotted the vile of Liquid Luck and his eyes widened slightly.
"Don't drink that, Ron!" scolded Hermione.
Ron, however, didn't listen and he gulped down his juice, not know there was actually no Liquid Luck.
"You could be expelled for that." said Hermione.
"I don't know what you're talking about." said Harry, acting clueless.
Ron finished gulping down the remaking juice and once he out the goblet down, a smile spread on his face. Harry and I looked at each other with smirks. I looked over at Luna and winked at her while mount the word 'Sh'.
"C'mon, you two. We've got a game to win." said Ron.
The three of us stood up and headed out. The three of us made our way to our changing rooms to get ready and grab our belongings. I looked at the name 'Black' on my Quidditch robe and felt a wave of determination wash over me.
"I'm gonna make you proud dad." I said.
Not too long after us, the rest of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team arrived and began getting ready. Harry and I were ready before hand so we were discussing game tactics and such. Ron was grinning confidently since he thought he drank Liquid Luck. Ginny was standing with her arms crossed and a confident smirk. The rest were chattering as we waited.
