Alongside Pride, June is also National Adopt a Cat Month also known as Adopt a Shelter Cat Month!
National Adopt a Cat Month reminds us to think of our furry friends when considering a new pet. Shelters all around the world are filled with furry babies that need a forever home. This month is National Adopt a Cat Month because it's also the height of "kitten season". A large portion of the cats born in this season end up in a shelter, joining the already homeless kitties around the world.
Having a furry little friend is beneficial for us, humans. A cats' purr has been shown to soothe humans as well as themselves. Cats have an uncanny ability to just make you smile. Who doesn't love a cute little furry cat? They're adorable!

When you consider adopting a cat, a baby kitten or an old one, consider taking home two. Cats need exercise, mental stimulation and social interaction. They can easily provide that for each other when their owner is not around.
If you, or someone close, are considering getting a new cat, consider adopting a cat from a shelter, many of these cats have never felt what it's like to be loved. Maybe you can provide them with their forever home. If you can't, consider volunteering or donating to a shelter, many shelters have a list of items they need.
