On this profile, we always strive to present you the best written pieces you can possibly find on this platform. And this month, we're focusing the series on the genre winners of The Ambys 2021, presented by the Ambassadors!
In this chapter, we're happy to introduce you picklejuice100, the author of "Death's Guide to Life"; a story which won the contemporary literature category in The Ambys 2021.
Death has never understood why humans are dead set on hating them. Why are they looked upon as the beast, the monster, while they tried their best to be gentle? Death could never comprehend why these silly humans wanted to live so bad in this hellhole called Earth. Why do they choose Life when Death could give them so much peace?
So, when Death makes their way to break the tether of the next soul, they finally get the chance to get the answers to their never-ending list of questions.

If you had to describe your writing self in three words, what would they be?
Unorganised, messy but adventurous. Whenever I draft a story, my heart rate rises, my brain feels like it's running a million miles an hour, and I just get lost in the words and the characters. And even though I hardly plan anything, it feels like me and my characters are on this journey together and I just enjoy myself while unfolding the story bit by bit.
✩
For the Ambys, have you revived a story/idea you haven't finished in the past, or have you started a new one to participate?
I have started a new one to participate. The idea was gradually growing in my mind, and the timing was perfect, so everything just aligned.
✩
What comes to you first? The plot or the characters?
Definitely the characters. I'm one of those who appreciates some good, complex characters. And, I really think good characters can steal the show and keep the readers hooked.
✩
How would you describe your main character(s) from Death's Guide to Life?
My main character, Violet is this calm, collected person, who tries to keep her life in control. She is determined and sincere. But at the same time, Violet is scared. She is scared to let go, scared to ditch her plans even though she knows the future is not going to work out like she thought it would, she is scared about being vulnerable and showing her true, raw side of her personality.
✩
Do you hide any secrets/snippets from your own life in your stories?
*sheepish* Yup. Most of the time, I try not to, and make my protagonist different, but it just slips. Sometimes, I want to express my thoughts, and I kind of find it hard to speak up, and talk about real, serious stuff, so I rely on my words to take that burden off of my chest.

Who is your favourite Wattpad writer? Did they influence your writing journey?
My favorite Wattpad writer is Arodynamics. They are truly amazing, and their writing is golden. And, yes, one way or the other, their books did influence my writing journey. Reading their stories, I learned a lot about crafting beautiful, complex characters, and just learned to pour my words into the paper without hesitating, or constantly checking whether it's good enough.
✩
What is it you like the most about Wattpad?
The beautiful thing about wattpad is that it's a wonderful community, where I can explore, meet amazing people, read a variety of books, and even get an opportunity to enter in these fun contests.
✩
How many books do you have on your to-be-read list? (Both off and on Wattpad.) Which one are you the most excited about to start reading?
A lot. There are so many books on my TBR, I don't think I will ever finish them (but, let's be optimistic ). And, the one I am excited about is the 'Gentleman Bastard's' series by Scott Lynch. Also, Victoria Schwab's new book, 'Galant' is going to be released soon, so can't wait for that too!
✩
How much time do you spend reading vs how much time do you spend writing?
To be honest, I am not much of a writer... so yeah, I do spend the majority of my time reading novels and stories, or just watching the Office. And, my creativity is a little jerky, if that makes sense. I mean, I rarely get that inspiration or motivation to write, or create, but once I have an idea, I just make sure to hold on to it and jot it down.
