There's life in death, there's death in life

There's life in death, there's death in life. Often we have wondered what happens after death, fearing that our existence shall end with it. However what if this isn't the truth? What if there's life after death? Maybe we are all immortals; maybe we just have to realise that immortality!

If you had to describe your writing self in three words, what would they be?

Interesting first question! If I had to describe my writing self in three words, they would be deep, dark and melancholic.

For the Ambys, have you revived an older poem idea you haven't finished in the past, or have you started a new one to participate?

For the Ambys I had revived an older poem idea. I did complete it earlier but was not much satisfied with the end, however with the advent of the Ambys I got a chance to rewrite and improve it.

What would you say is the most challenging thing about writing poetry?

The most challenging thing about writing poetry in my opinion is properly channelling the emotions into the piece. Often we poets write poetry when emotions overwhelm us. But while writing it we have to keep a tight balance between the emotions we are feeling and what we are writing to give the poem an adequate dose of emotion and an overall polished quality. An excess of anything might put the reader off reading.

Do you hide any secrets/snippets from your own life in your poetry?

Maybe? The Endless Me is based on my core beliefs about life, death and the possibility of life after death. It tells the reader of my perception about death which I have formed after encountering it quite a few times in my life. As much as I don't believe in the concept of a heaven and a hell, I am quite sure that there is another existence outside this body of ours. This is something that this poem of mine tried to portray.

Which poetry form do you enjoy writing the most?

I enjoy writing freestyle poetry the most. It gives me a lot of freedom to pen down my ideas without restricting me to stick with a certain pattern, rhythm, number of words or verses.

How did you get started as a poet? Did you find it easy?

As far as I can remember, I began writing poetry when I was around five or six years old. It came to me as easily as eating or drinking and I always find it easy to put down what I am thinking or feeling onto the paper rather than expressing it through words.

Who are your favourite poets - both on and off Wattpad? Did they influence your writing journey?

My favourite poets off Wattpad are Wordsworth, Shakespeare, Maya Angelou, Christina Rossetti, Rumi, Rupi Kaur and Nikita Gill. As for poets on Wattpad, eternitea40 and mypoemattic never fail to entice me with their creations.

What do you appreciate the most about your readers? How do they motivate you?

I appreciate how my readers are always beside me through thick and thin. Be it writer's block or heartache, I can always count on my readers to understand my situation. Their kind words and continuous support motivate me a lot.

What do you hope readers will take away from your poem?

I want my readers to take away the message of hope from my poem. I want them to understand that endings are not bad, that the end of something gives rise to the creation of another. Destruction is but another form of creation because without destruction of the old the creation of the new is impossible. Thus, to hate destruction would be equivalent to hating creation as well. Creation and destruction are a never-ending cycle that tests the power of our hope; the hope that there will come a better tomorrow no matter how terrible the storm might be.

If you could tell your younger writer-self anything, what would it be?

If I could tell something to my younger writing-self, I would ask her to go with the flow and stop worrying about being 'perfect'. Because perfection is not a state to be achieved but it is a journey that needs to be enjoyed.
