So, we've covered the origins and the history of trick or treating. Let's move on to Black cats and Ghosts. Why do we avoid crossing paths with a black cat? This superstition has its roots in the Middle Ages when many people believed that witches could turn themselves into cats to avoid detection.

Just like avoiding crossing paths with a black cat, the superstition to not walk under ladders comes from ancient Egyptians, who believed triangles were sacred. And around Halloween, especially, we all tend to believe in these popular superstitions like it'll bring you seven years of bad luck if you break a mirror; damaging your family's health if you step on cracks; or that you should throw salt over your left shoulder with your right hand to blind the devil and stop him from taking your soul if you spill salt.

Today's ghosts and superstitions are often described as more fearsome, malevolent and scarier. Back when the Celtic people began the Halloween tradition, they felt closer to their deceased loved ones, plates were set at the dinner table for those who had gone, leftover treats were left at the doorsteps and candles were lit to help their loved ones find their way back home.

Here on WattpadEmpowered, we're a bit more into finding the scary. So, we challenge you to a game of Word Hunting! Below you will find a grid of letters, and in this grid you'll find 29 words, all relating to Halloween. You'll find them horizontal, vertical, diagonal and backwards.

Best of luck!
