CHAPTER 20 - HEATWAVE AND CAPTAIN COLD

TIMESKIP – NEXT DAY

TREADMILL ROOM, S.T.A.R. LABS

Speed was looking at the treadmill and sighs, Wells wheels in from the hallway connected to the room

Wells: "I hope we're not enemies."

Speed turns and shakes his head at the Umbreon: "What? No, of course not."

Wells: "I thought you might blame me for pushing you to pursue your training rather than help the Rescuers."

Speed: "Look, I'm an adult. I make my own choices, my own mistakes and I'm glad you push me to be better."

Wells crosses his paws

Speed: "It's so weird, there was a time in my life that I would've paid money for your autograph and now we're—"

Wells: "Partners."

Speed nods: "I was gonna say friends."

Wells: "In case you doubt it, you push me to be better too."

Trace (From the Cortex): "Guys, you have to come look at this."

Speed looks at Wells who nods and wheels over to the Cortex, Speed is right behind him

CORTEX, S.T.A.R. LABS

Trace was looking at the computer screen, it had an image of the gun Mick was holding last night

Trace: "When the heat gun was fired, it increased the surrounding temperature of the air dramatically, sort of like an extreme heat wave."

Trace then looked at Wells: "Heat wave."

Wells: "Stop doing that."

Trace: "Okay. I measured the temperature output of both the cold and heat guns, right? And while the cold gun achieves absolute zero, the heat gun successfully reaches absolute hot, or the hottest temperature an object can reach."

Speed: "Planck temperature."

Trace nods

Wells: "So potentially, these two guns could cancel each other out."

Trace nods again: "Yeah, but to do that, you'd have to make them cross streams."

Speed: "You mean like Ghostbusters?"

Trace: "That film is surprisingly scientifically accurate."

Speed's phone begins to vibrate and he grabs it, Alfred was calling him

Speed walks away from the desk with the computers and answers the call: "Hey, Alfred. What's up?"

Speed's expression suddenly darkens and he races out of the Cortex

OUTSIDE JITTERS

Alfred was looking at a car that had it's door frozen over, Speed arrives and walks over to Alfred

Speed: "Alfred, anything?"

Alfred sighs and shakes his head: "There's no sign of Pearl."

Speed then sees the frozen car door and walks over to it: "Oh, my Arceus."

Speed then looks back at the Arcanine: "We're getting her back. We have to find Snart."

Alfred: "Damn right we do. Come on, let's go."

Alfred then walks off, Speed follows after him

PTRD

Speed and Alfred just walked into PTRD and are walking over to the stairs to head up to Speed's Lab when a certain Absol stops them
