CHAPTER 8 - GOING ROGUE

S.T.A.R. Labs

Flora, Pearl, Trace and Wells are currently looking at Speed's injury he got from the gun, its a dark blue spot on his right side

Speed: "It's still numb"

Pearl: "It's like third-degree frostbite"

Flora: "I thought he had hyper-healing"

Pearl: "It's been slowed"

She then walks around Speed and to a screen shows what is happening to Speed's body right now

Pearl: "If your cells weren't regenerating at the rate they are your blood vessels would've frozen solid. The nerve damage would've been permanent, you're lucky to be alive"

Speed then gets up and starts to walk

Speed: "Snart wasn't another meta-Pokémon, he has some kind of gun It froze things It slowed me down enough that I wasn't able to save a mon"

Flora: "According to his records, Snart didn't even finish high school, so how did he build a handheld, high-tech snow machine?"

Wells: "S.T.A.R. Labs built the cold gun"

Flora and Speed stare at Wells and Trace

Trace: "Dr Wells and Pearl had nothing to do with this, I built the gun"

Speed then looks at him: "You did? Why?"

Trace: "Because speed and cold are opposites, temperature is measured by how quickly the atoms of something are oscillating, the faster they are, the hotter it is and when things are cold, they're slower on the atomic level when there's no movement at all, it's called--"

Speed: "Absolute zero"

Trace: "Yeah, I designed a compact cryo-engine to achieve absolute zero"

He then paused, looked at Pearl and then looked back at Speed: "I built it to stop you"

Speed looks at him in disbelief

Trace: "I didn't know who you were then, Speed, I mean, what if you turned out to be some psycho, like Mardon or Nimbus?"

Speed began to raise his voice: "But I didn't, did I?"

Pearl: "We built the entire structure you're standing in to do good, and it blew up, in the wake of that you can understand why Trace would wanna be prepared for the worst"

Speed: "I can understand that, but what I can't understand is why you didn't tell me what you did, I mean, after all we've been through, I thought you trusted me I thought we were friends"

Trace: "We are, Speed-"

Speed: "I mean If you had just told me, I could've been prepared, but instead somemon died tonight"

Trace: "And I have to live with that..."

Speed then shakes his head: "No, Trace, we all do"

Speed then walks out of the Cortex

AT ALFRED'S HOUSE

Lazuli is watching a news broadcast on Alfred's TV and Alfred walks through the door

Mon (ON TV): "Theater-goers remain shaken after surviving tonight's bizarre attack"

Lazuli then looks at the door and sees Alfred standing there after closing the door

Lazuli: "The news, are you okay?"

Alfred: "I'm fine"

Lazuli then sighs: "How long is this gonna go on? Seems like the cold treatment is going around"
