CHAPTER 32 - BACK IN TIME

WITH SPEED

Speed was at the intersection panting, he was exhausted after running up and down the coastline to stop the tsunami

He saw it was now nighttime, scanned the area and saw a Yamper and a Rockruff barking at eachother, a mon flipping a sign and a Lucario calling for a taxi

Lucario: "Taxi, taxi! Oh, come on, I'm going to be late!"

Speed's eyes widened: "Oh, boy."

Trace tries to talk to him through the headset: "Hey, what's going on? Dude!"

Speed replies: "Yeah. Trace, I'm here."

Trace: "What happened? Why'd you stop?"

Speed sighed: "I just got a little disoriented."

Trace: "You need to make up some time, man. You'd better hurry up."

Speed then was confused: "Hurry? What are...?"

Trace: "Hurry, as in, get to the morgue."

Speed then got even more confused: "The morgue? But I was there yesterday."

Trace: "What are you talking about? Come on, you gotta go."

Speed then ran off to the morgue

TIMESKIP

PLASMA TOWN MORGUE

Speed was in his regular clothes, he was carrying his CSI kit with him

He looked around the Coroner's office and he realized it was the same scene from earlier

Speed walked closer, he ran into Alfred

Alfred: "Hey, Speed, what's with all the water?"

Speed looked at Alfred confused, he was missing a few minutes ago, but here he was

Alfred: "Did the sprinkler system go off or something?"

Speed shook his head: "No, I checked the sprinklers. They're all intact. But the water has ice in it."

He and Alfred walked over to the dead Coroner

Speed: "And the bruises on the coroner aren't just on his face. Check. Look at his torso."

Alfred raised the sheet off of the dead Sceptile and noticed all of the bruises on his torso

Alfred: "Whoa. How in the Distortion World did you know that?"

Speed: "He was killed by hail. We have to listen to the recording."

Alfred looked at him confused: "Recording?"

Spike then walked in: "Alfred, we got something. The coroner's office just installed an automated dictation system. Listen to this."

Spike began to play the tape

Coroner: "Please, no more."

Mark: "I'll stop when you tell me."

Coroner: "Stop"

Mark: "Who killed him?"

Alfred was about to speak, Speed interrupted

Speed: "That's Mark Mardon. He wants revenge."

Alfred began to breathe heavily

TIMESKIP – NEXT DAY

S.T.A.R. LABS

Trace and Pearl were in the lobby of S.T.A.R. Labs, they just got out of the elevator and began walking to the Cortex, they were both holding red slushies
