CHAPTER 5 - INVESTIGATION

Speed: It doesn't matter if you're the slowest mon in gym class or the fastest mon alive Every one of us is running Being alive means running, running from something, running to something or somemon And no matter how fast you are, there's some things you can't outrun Some things always manage to catch up to you

Speed and Lazuli are currently outside of a movie theater since they just finished watching a movie

Speed: "Regular movie scale, that was a seven or an eight Zombie movie scale, it was, like, a four, tops"

Lazuli then laughs: "There's a zombie movie scale?"

Speed ignores the question: "Did you know that zombies exist in nature?"

Lazuli shakes her head

Speed: "There's a species of fungi that infects Paras, causing the Paras to attack plants that can release spores which in turn infect new hosts"

Lazuli gives him a look

Speed: "I'm going full nerd again, aren't I?"

Lazuli: "Yeah It's okay though You are still the cutest nerd that I know Anyways, I'm a lot more interested in the amazing as of late"

Speed: "You mean 'cause of this "streak" thing?"

Lazuli: "He's out there People are talking about him"

Speed: "How do you even know he's a he? Maybe it's a she"

Lazuli: It's a mon, okay? You know I am really intuitive about this kind of stuff Somemon even posted a picture after being yanked from a car accident It's a red blur leaving the scene"

Lazuli then pulls out her phone

Lazuli: "Here, what do you see?"

Speed then sees she is being called by Spike

Speed: "I see your boyfriend's calling"

Lazuli: "Oh, I should probably get this I'm crashing at his place tonight, and he's supposed to leave a key for me somewhere"

She then answers the phone call: "Hey, babe What's up? Not much, just hanging out with Speed You off yet?" She then walks away from Speed to talk to Spike

Then Speed gets a phone call and he answers

Speed: "Hello"

Trace: "Code 237 on Waid Boulevard"

Speed: "Public indecency?"

Trace: "Wait, I think I meant a 239"

Speed: "Yamper leash violation?"

Pearl then goes up to the intercom

Pearl: "Bad mon with a gun in a getaway car Go"

Speed then quickly looks at Lazuli who is still on the phone with Spike

Lazuli: "You don't have a mat, do you have a planter?"

He then races off towards the scene

A Rescuer car is currently chasing after a red pickup truck and Speed is running as fast as he can to get there

The driver then pulls out a pistol and starts shooting at the Rescuers

Rescuer 1: "He's got a gun look out!"

Speed then quickly approaches and grabs the driver and puts him in the backseat of a Rescuer car

Rescuer 1: "Where'd he go?"

They then look in the backseat and see him and see him in pawcuffs

Rescuer 2: "What the..."

Back with Lazuli
