"And as long as that is the fact, how I do what I do, who I leverage and why, is nobody's business but my own.

When humanity first began to explore the stars, its efforts were more often than not, divided, disorganized, and uncoordinated. Between SpaceX, the Northern American Stellar Authority, Mitsubishi-Celestech, the Chinese National Interstellar Administration, the European International Space Exploration Treaty Organization, Slavic Federal Stellar Agency, and StellarTech East Africa, humanity's first leaps into the expanse of space were more like small trips and stumbles.

However, all of this would all change when the Northern American Commonwealth, the Republic of China, Imperial Japanese Federation, Slavic Federation, and a plethora of other nations, headed by the United Nations, which was, at the time led by Secretary-General Florin Harthal, would sign the Paris Accords on July 29, 2097, and agree to combine, cooperate, and coordinate their spacefaring efforts, and share their resources and knowledge.

Following SpaceX's discovery of the warpspace dimension, and the subsequent establishment of the United Nations Space Alliance that followed, the 22nd century would come to be known as the Stellar Age.

In a single century, humanity went from a single fucking system, and 7 insignificant worlds, to hundreds of star systems and thousands of worlds, while its population grew nearly a hundred fold.
So much wealth, knowledge, technology and resources were gained during the Stellar Age, and humanity came to call thousands of worlds as its new homes.

Aartis, Thera, Corica, Fedralis, Etnerum, Zuhairah, Amaniyyah, Nurulhaq, Mirodizaora, Dorsia, Jiayi, Xiaodong, Vantylium, Leindra, Eczavant, and dozens of other worlds all stand as testament to what humanity has accomplished in a single century.
From Rembrandt to the Lagrange, from Paris to Ecrynthia, the stars bear witness to millions of warships and freighters constantly shipping trillions upon trillions of riches, wealth and resources across the United Nations of Earth, while dozens of fleets ensure that another settlement war never takes place.

With the reconstruction effort complete, humanity can now look outwards once again...
And yet... look where that has gotten them.

The Atrios System.

Many thought that meeting other forms of life would be inevitable.
After all...
Who fucking else would have built the shattered Erinthan Ring World, or the automated dreadnought within the Canedar System?

There was so much humanity needed to know, needed to discover, needed to challenge. The Galaxy they had resided in was a graveyard of fallen civilizations and empires, all while horrors and wonders beyond their understanding were all scattered across nearly every world, system, and asteroid they came across.

Humanity needed to know... It needed to know just what the fuck happened before Earth, and why there were so many anomalous horrors and wonders within this galaxy. Hundreds of ancient structures and machinations have been found on dozens of worlds, while forgotten megastructures and ancient vessels lost to time have been found in the abyss.

Humanity was not alone, nor was it the first to explore this godforsaken galaxy. And even more shockingly, Earth was extremely unlikely to be the first world upon which humanity had resided on.

Whatever came before, humanity would know. Whatever the cost, was needed, it would pay and do so.

In the Name of the United Nations, the stars shall be conquered, and the secrets of this abyss made known.
