James groaned as he rolled over in his bed, burying his head under his covers as the mornings rising sun peaked out from under the curtains. He pulled his arm out to try and reach for Alya but completely missed.
Confused he turned over to find her, only to be met with an empty side of the bed. As if no one had ever been there. Scrunching his face up he rubbed his eyes before swinging his legs out of bed, his bare feet hitting the wooden flooring.
He padded out into the common room and kitchen, only to find all their belongings packed and ready to go in piles.
Of course, how could he of forgotten?
It was their last day. Their final last day at Hogwarts.
Of course Alya would have been up and ready early and have packed all of their things.
"Lya?" James called groggily, his voice deep as he pushed open the door to Alya's bedroom.
Her bed was completely empty, stripped of the sheets that laid in a neat pile at the foot of the mattresses.
Confused, James shrugged before sleepily stumbling into the bathroom to shower and change into his uniform.
"Have any of you lads seen Alya this morning?" He asked as he helped himself to another slice of toast at the Gryffindor table as he realised Alya wasn't sat with her usual friends at the Ravenclaw table
"I haven't actually" Frank replied, "I think Dar and the girls know something though"
"Yeah" Nico added, "we asked them where she was earlier and they were being suspicious"
"She's probably with my mum or something. Or Lily. Or Professor McGonagall" James concluded, taking a large bite from his toast.
Throughout breakfast James' eyes never left Alya's empty space. She loved breakfast. Never went without it. Always said that breakfast was the most important meal of the day.
He knew that from all the times she'd woken him up just to head down for breakfast. James rolled his eyes at the thought.
"You'll stare a hole into the wood" Nico laughed as he watched James stare at the seat across the room
"Shut up. It's just she never misses brea-"
James was suddenly interrupted as a note seemed to suddenly materialise infront of him.
Bewildered, James picked up the note and read over the neat handwriting
You're pretty N' I love you
A slow smile pulled over his features as he recognised the dainty handwriting.
Quickly, the note ripped itself up in his hands making him jump back in surprise as Frank and Nico watched with the same expression on their faces.
