Alya looked around trying to steady herself and get her bearings.

The seven of them had apparated outside the Lupin cottage and glanced around at the beautiful scenery.

It stood nestled on top of the cliffs, below the sea crashed against the rocks as sea birds wheeled below. The sun beat down upon them as a gentle breeze ran through the meadows and fields surrounding them. Beaten tracks winded around the house, that the curved around the cliffs and lead down to the beach.

Entering the house she glanced down to the doormat that said "everyone welcome", underneath that some faded writing that said, "apart from Harry Potter and Ron Weasley".

Alya smiled to herself in amusement.

Looking around the cottage there was a strange sense of emptiness but cosiness about it. The counters were cleared and the rooms empty, but that coldness clashed with the safe feeling the cottage radiated.

"I've missed it here" Frank said inhaling the sea air

"Tell me about it" James nodded as he walked around placing the keys away

"It's so beautiful" Amalie whispered to the girls as James gestured for them to enter.

Alya, Roxanne, Amalie and Daria all glanced around the living room while in interest while Frank and Nico dumped their bags on the floor as James opened the windows to get some fresh air into the building.

"Make yourselves at home then ladies" James said as he flung his arms out presenting the living room, "there's only three bedrooms so Frank, Nico and I will be in one and then you can all sort it out between you"

"Thanks James" Roxanne nodded picking up her things as Amalie and Daria followed after her along with Frank and Nico.

Alya looked around the room, "you need help?" She asked James who was still opening all the windows.

"Please. If you don't mind" James replied, "there's some windows in the kitchen that could do with being opened. It's a bit stuffy"

Alya nodded making her way through to the kitchen.

Opening the windows she was about to head back to grab her things when she got distracted by the things stuck into the fridge by some old magnets.

There was old drawings, certificates, newspaper cut outs, photographs and all sorts of mementos.
Taking a closer look she identified two drawings.

The first was a drawing of three stick people, two of them with long blond hair and the third with shaggy  brown hair. Above them were some squiggly letters. "M, V, D" was written on each character. At the bottom of the page "illustration of the Lupin family by Viola Rose Lupin" was written in neat pencil.

The second drawing was what seemed to be some sort of a dog, a wolf perhaps? It was surrounded by an outline of a red heart with some more scrawny writing. Below the writing was a translation in neater handwriting. "I love you daddy, even when fluffy" and once again, below that, "an illustration by Viola Rose Lupin".

Alya didn't know what "fluffy" meant but she didn't fell like it was right to ask. This wasn't her house and she didn't have the right to do that.

Moving on from the drawing she came across a magazine cut out of Rosaleé Devaux and a photo of Remus Lupin in smart robes with a briefcase. At the bottom of the photo there was some writing that said, "sexy Professor"
Smiling, she moved onto the last piece of parchment stuck to the fridge. It was from Professor McGonagall, breaking the news of Violas head girl title. It was held up by a sticky note that read, "we're so proud of you Vi!"

Alya's heart ached for the family who's time together got cut short. It was so evident that they loved each other to the ends of the earth.

Moving back into the living room she saw a pile of knitted blankets stacked neatly up on the sofa as James kneeled by the fireplace cleaning it out.

"Here, take this" James started pulling Alya a knitted blanket off the pile and covering her with it, "it gets cold here at night, that's why I'm cleaning the fire place out just in case"

"Thank you" Alya smiled, "do you need anymore help?"

"No it's okay. I've nearly done" James replied, "go and get yourself settled"
