I sit in class and watch the time pass. The day has gone by fast, just not fast enough; after my last class, I race to get to Raven before she gets outside. I wait until she finally emerges through the doors. "Hey," she says.

"Hi." I grab her face and kiss her; I hate not being with her all day. "Let's go home." She nods.

As we proceed to the car, Logan and Brie are waiting for us. When we reach home, we all go to the kitchen. Raven is silent, and I can feel that she is worn out. Her nightmares have kept her up at night. "Why don't you go take a nap?" She nods and heads upstairs. Once she is out of hearing shot, Logan asks.

"What happened today?" Looking at me.

"She hasn't slept at all. She spends the entire night awake due to these nightmares. They terrify her," I tell them both.

Brie gets up. "Where are you going?" Logan asks. "To make sure she is okay." She walks away.

"I need to hit something." I say, clenching my fists. Logan puts a hand on my shoulder. "Well, I'm glad we have a gym in the basement, or I'd be afraid to be standing here," He laughs.

We head downstairs for the next hour or so. I shut my brain off and take my anger out on the punching bag. "Guys?"

"Down here," Logan shouts, and Brie joins us. "She's asleep now, but she told me about her dreams. I think it's best we call Mr. Michael. He might have an explanation," she says.

"Well, then call him!" Frustration grows within. She pulls her phone out and dials, "Speaker." I mouth, and she does what I say.

"Hey, Mr. Michaels, it's Brie."

"Hi, dear, how can I help you?" He asks.

"Well, something is happening to Raven. She's been having these dreams." I inhale deeply. "More like nightmares," I remind her.

"Hello, Clay," Mr. Michaels says.

"Can you help us or not?" I growl.

"Well, what are they about?"

Brie tells him that she sees ravens all around her, that it's dark where she is, than she's somewhere else, that there are fires all around her, and that she hears many screams. Then she falls quiet, and Raven hears Zack pleading for help.

What the–?

"I see," He says.

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" I punch the wall. Logan tells me to calm down and listen to the old man talk.

"You seem to have forgotten how strong she is and how little she has done to utilise her full potential. My dear, she is not having nightmares. Her subconscious is alerting her to impending events." His voice is serene as he speaks.

Well, Great!

"How much longer is her life at risk?" Logan asks, knowing I need to know.

"Sadly." He pauses. Anger builds within me as he takes his time to respond. "What?" I bark.

"She will be in danger until all her powers manifest," He tells us. I look over at Logan, he nods, and I smash my fist into the wall once more.

"Thank you, Mr. Michaels," Brie says and hangs up.

"I can't let her out of my sight for one second." I run my fingers through my hair.

"We will figure it out," Brie tries to assure me. "No way in hell am I going to let anything happen to her."

"Clay?" Raven calls from the top of the stairs. "Yeah, baby, I'm coming." I shout while unwrapping my hands.

"Go," Logan says. I nod and run up the stairs.

"What's wrong?" She's changed her clothes. "Nothing. Can we go for a drive?" She asks me.

"Yeah, of course. Where do you want to go?"

"Anywhere, away from here," she says.

"Okay." I kiss her forehead.

Like the first time we spoke, the moon gleams in her hair as I drive fast. Her heart is beating quickly, and she is thinking a lot. When we get to Rikers Point, there is silence and nobody nearby when I park.

"It's peaceful up here," she says.

"Yeah, it is. I used to come here a lot."

"Oh." She looks away. Damnit, I keep forgetting that I need to be precise with my words toward her, or she assumes the worst.

"No, not like that. I would come here to think and escape reality." I take her hand and cup her face with my other. "You're the only person I have ever brought here."

She kisses me, and as our mouths separate, our tongues touch. My body is filled with sensations. She gets up onto my lap; she planned this all out, which is why she was wearing this skirt, and I couldn't care less. She gradually presses against my hardness toward her, tightening my hold on her waist and intensifying our kisses. My jeans are now in her hands, and she releases her hold to zip them down. She straddles me and moans as I enter her.

"I need things to be out of focus," she tells me.

"Shut your mind off and let our bodies do the thinking," I say, kissing her neck.

"Don't stop," she says, breathing heavily. Within minutes, that familiar feeling of her body tightening happens. I kiss her.

"Come, baby, don't think," I say into her mouth. She presses her head against my chest as we both climax. I wrap my arms around her and hold her tight. It feels like forever that we sit here like this, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

"Don't ever let go," she whispers.

"Never!" I say, kissing her head. "I promise." She moves off me and gets situated.

"Are you ready to go home, or do you want to stay longer?" I ask her, searching her face.

She kisses me and says, "Let's go home." While we're on the calm, homeward trip, my mind ponders what Mr. Michaels stated. When will she have total reign over all of her abilities? What else is her subconscious trying to warn her about?
